Coldplay

Just a basic post to see what fellow DVDTalkers feel about one of my favorite bands. There 2 albums (Parachutes, ROBTTH) have been excellent and there performance of Politiks at the Grammys was well done and timely. What is your oppinion of the band and what other artists do you feel have the same genre/sound as Coldplay.

Its weird, I love their sound, but can't get into too many of their songs. I like Shiver and a couple of other tunes (Clocks and Scientist are alright) but that's about it. Maybe with more listens some of their tunes will grow on me.

good, if excellent band. just not "amazing" as they can tend to bore me. especially after seeing them live. they don't seem to have any spunk.

They are good, not great. I got bored with both of their albums after a while. They were amazing on first listen but slowly got worse and worse, IMO, maybe because of the lyrics or the same subject matter over and over.
Amsterdam is one awesome song though.

Yeah, those last two tracks on A Rush of Blood to the Head are great.

Currently they are my favorite band, at least favorite mainstream band. Their first album was excellent, but their second album was even more superior, imo. I can listen to it over and over, particularly in the car - both albums make great driving music. I can't say why, but they keep growing on me w/ each listen. I just wish I wasn't on a cruise when they came through St. Louis in February, because I heard that show was amazing (and this was coming from a few people who weren't die-hard Coldplay fans, too).

Good posts thus far, glad to see there are fellow Coldplay fans out there. Unfortunately, when they rolled through Detroit in the early Spring I didnt go because I was not as much of a fan as I am now. Ironically, my 2 favorite songs are both opening tracks on there albums (Politks and Dont Panic). I am very upset because recently lost my ROBTTH so I wll have to buy another one.
