Ok let's try something new. I suggest two albums and the next poster chooses which one is better and gives reviews for both. The reviews can be short or detailed, it doesn't matter. He/She then suggest another set of albums. (the albums can be related (same artist is ok) or vastly different, it doesn't matter)

Radiohead's The Bends vs Coldplay's Parachutes

Parachutes; Radiohead's second or third best album vs. Coldplay's best.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon vs. The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St.

I think the battles should be of albums by the same artist, or year.

Great debut album vs third album that sounds like great debut album.

The Strokes's debut was one of the best of 2001 while White Blood Cells was one of the most overrated (but still awesome).
The Strokes win on the strength of Hard to Explain and The Modern Age and also to the fact that it was their debut album. White Blood Cells lost a lot of steam towards the end. Started out too well for its own good.

Oasis's Definitely Maybe vs (What's the Story) Morning Glory.

Well, this thread has already lost its reputablility.

Tough call... Some great songs on both, some stuff not so hot. I give my vote to Definitely Maybe, if only because "Married With Children" is a great album-ender, and "Champagne Supernova" has, over time worn out its welcome with me.

Next battle: Nirvana's "Nevermind" vs. Pearl Jam's "Ten"

Nice explanation

Both Kid A and Lateralus were new directions for Radiohead and Tool, Kid A towards electronica and Lateralus towards an album as a whole instead of a collection of songs. I prefer Kid A because I'm awfullly biased toward Radiohead.

Lets see R.E.M.s "raw" fresh debut album by a bunch of southern kids that have a love of music and really enjoy what they are doing vs. overproduced forced album recorded by a bunch of 30 somethings that are full of their own hype.

Illmatic vs. 36 Chambers

Illmatic was much more of a engaging experience. You knew exactly how Nas was feeling with each verse and could really dig into his head. 36 Chambers was tight also, with C.R.E.A.M. the all-time classic, but Illmatic is just too ill.
