I wonder how the conventional DVD-Audio releases are going to continue to justify their prices when this DUAL DISC thing is proving that it really doesn't cost more to produce these things. I've seen DVD-Audio discs for as much as $24.

but... not all Dual Disc are DVD-Audio, take for instance the new Ben Fold's Dual Disc - I popped it into my DVD-Audio car unit and it stated wrong disc formant... I does however play on my home theatre setup.

You're right, I don't think they're advanced resolution DVD-Audio. What kind of DVD-Audio system do you have in your car? Sounds pretty cool.

It leaked yesterday... shouldn't be too hard to track down. Itunes Germany hosted it for a day.. supposed to be 5.30 somehow that got confused with 5.03

Got it yesterday. Only one song I don't care for. (Mucky Fingers) The rest is some of the best stuff in years. I'll still support 'em on the 31st though when I actually buy it.

Itunes Germany really screwed up - I bet Sony is furious. Kind of funny how they went through great lengths to keep it from leaking (putting watermarks in the songs frequencies to track potential leaks) and it ends up getting released like this.

As for the album itself - it's absolutely amazing. I think it ranks up there with Morning Glory. There's not a weak track on it - Lyla is probably in the bottom 3 songs on the album quality-wise. Right now, The Importance of Being Idle is my favorite song from the album.

Picked up the leak yesterday. Some of the stuff really ranks up there with the best they've done. It definitely feels like a more distinct change in direction too, and there is some stuff you just wouldn't expect on an Oasis album. I'm liking it a pretty good amount right now.

As a big fan or Oasis, I eagerly anticipated hearing the first single, "Lyla" and I got the UK single over the weekend.

I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. THIS is the song they pick as the first single? What are they smoking???? It's not even remotely catchy and the B-sides were a let down as well. I tried listening to this a few times to see if it'd grow on me, it didn't.

I won't be listening to this one again. Hopefully the album will provide something better.

I recommend Let There Be Love, of what i've heard (maybe 3-4 songs) this is the best.

Actually I think The Importance of Being Idle is the best but overall it's a smashing return to form.

So what's the deal with the dualdisc version?

http://www.sonymusicstore.com/store/...48&skuId=84158

On the right of that page gives the full tracklisting, etc. Album on one side, it repeats again on the 2nd side so are we to assume it's in 5.1 surround?

Yup. 5.1 on the DVD side along with a documentary called "The Ear Has No Memory" about the making of the album.

The best I've seen is $11.98 at Target. The single disc there is only $9.98.

A 5.1 mix is the deal breaker for me too. One not-very-good music video and an EPK are not worth paying the extra for. But I think I would if a surround mix was included. Hopefully an Oasis fan who makes it to the stores early will let us know!

Circuit city lists the DVD as offering "enhanced stereo" - what does that mean? DVD-audio? I've no clue.

Well, I picked up the Dualdisc at Best Buy. The terminology in the booklet is still enhanced stereo," so I won't know if its advanced resolution or maybe PCM until I get home.

The Best Buy copies do come with a 5-track bonus disc. I thought "Great - 5 tracks I already have," but they're actually live version from the Metro in Chicago, in 1994. Might be worthwhile for those who care!

I think the pitchfork review of this had it best. "It completes Oasis's trilogy of crappy albums".

Follows the pattern of all Pitchfork reviews. Creative putdowns and disdain for anything that doesn't fit into their rather narrow framework of what's currently cool. Though not groundbreaking, DBTT is far from crappy and actually pretty darn good in spots.

I think it's a pretty strong, consistent album. I'd rank it #3 on their list of albums. Much more focused than the overblown "Be Here Now" and much stronger songs than are found on "SOTSOG" or "Heathen Chemistry."
Pitchfork are a bunch of pretentious wankers anyway. I knew they'd slam this album, probably without even giving it any type of chance.

I've had this downloaded for a while now, bought the dualdisc today and after initially hating it, I think muchky fingers is the best track on the album.

I love the first three Oasis studio albums. The b-sides and live album were also great.

The previous two studio albums only had a few songs each that I really liked:

Standing on the Shoulder of Giants
- Fu**in' In The Bushes
- Where Did It All Go Wrong?
- Sunday Morning Call
- Let's All Make Believe (Demo)

Heathen Chemistry
- Stop Crying Your Heart Out
- Songbird
- Little By Little

Don't Believe The Truth is pretty good overall. I picked up the dualdisc yesterday and my favorite songs are:
- Lyla
- Love Like a Bomb
- Importance of Being Idle
- Meaning of Soul
- Part of the Queue
- Keep the Dream Alive
