Holy bump! I saw them that long ago? I may see them again next month and they'll be on Jimmy Kimmel Wed. night.

I must admit I'm a bit disappointed with their new CD. While some of the songs are cool, many of them sound too much alike.

I haven't had a chance to hear the first one, but I love the second.

Re: The Sounds

Necro bump! They've got a new single from the upcoming album that I don't know the name to:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h7TGk9hjcbI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I think it's a great song. It retains that electronic/new wave edge from their past works.

They also performed in Sweden last week and have more festival shows, including Reading, coming up this month through August. Looks like they may be hitting the states in the Fall by those accounts.

Also, it's good to see Maja looking a bit filled out, not that she wasn't always, but in Something to Die For (tour and live appearances) she was beyond shredded. I like Maja with a bit more cakes.

Re: The Sounds

Thanks for the update. Maja looks like a young Debbie Harry in the first live clip.

Re: The Sounds

And The Sounds just performed this past Tuesday at the Kubana 2013 festival in Russia. Folks have finally started uploading the full stream since the original Kubana channel removed them after the live feed ended.

It was a great set, too!

Re: The Sounds

Man, I really want the new album to be announced - here's a new clip from about a week ago. The new single is first:

Re: The Sounds

A nice little mini-tour and a new album right after. Looks like the name of the new album is called "Weekend." It's on!

The band has released their second single - the title track called: Weekend.

Also, they have not confirmed or denied the album artwork for the upcoming record but it's believed to be this:

For those socal cats that weren't able to get tickets to their sold-out Los Angeles Belasco Theater performance - tickets have gone on sale for a NEW show that has been scheduled the night before in Orange County. They're going to be playing at The Observatory October 23rd.

Re: The Sounds

All due respect to fans, but The Sounds' first two albums were stellar and somehow, they lost their way into "pop" territory and it's clearly not a strong suit. Maja is trying way too hard to become famous outside of cult status and it's coming off as desperate.

I'm on the opposite side of that argument. I was only a casual fan of theirs up until the last album was released and then I became a giant fan.

I don't get the trying to hard to be famous bit. They're not on a major label, they have their own label, and only license their catalog to certain parties. Also, they've been around for 10 years now. Their fifth album releases at the end of the month.

I don't know, can you elaborate on what she's trying to do?

That's only about 20 minutes away from me. Now I have a decision to make: Peter Murphy doing a Bauhaus-only set on the 20th (also at the Observatory), or the Sounds...

I would say go for Peter Murphy and then get yourself a ticket (on the secondary market) for The Sounds in L.A. Last I checked tickets for the L.A. are at about $65 dollars a piece. That may have gone down due to the OC demand for that show.

Re: The Sounds

Got an email from Amazon saying that the vinyl edition of the new album no longer has a release date. The band posted that the album is available for pre-order on iTunes, which lets one listen to a new song and will also include a 12th (bonus) track called "Funeral" upon release of the record.

I'm bummed about the vinyl but am hopeful that it will be relisted by Amazon. Maybe it's just a pressing issue?

Re: The Sounds

The new album is set for release tomorrow - and the iTunes digital version will have an exclusive bonus track called 'Funeral.'

Also, good news on the vinyl front, Amazon UK has a release date for it next week. I went ahead and pre-ordered it. My total was about $24 shipped.
