Never heard it before, but a quick google search resulted in this:

"Brother Down" by Sam Roberts

The song is on his 2002 EP "Inhuman Condition" and his upcoming LP "We Were Born In A Flame."

definitely not Jewel....it is a male singer

it is a rock band....not sure about Sam Roberts but I get the feeling it is a new song.
