The Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium
The debut album of the Mars Volta will be released on the 24th and is going to be awesome. I'm not too familiar with the band but the 3 songs I've heard from the album were amazing. And Best Buy and Circuit City should have a great price on it since it's a new band. (MSRP=$12.99, BB preorder price=$9.99 so it should be around $6.99-$7.99 on release week). Don't miss out on one of the best releases of the year!

I've got an advanced promo copy of the cd and it's absolutely stunning. It's better than Sparta and At the Drive-In were combined. Cedric (the singer, also from ATDI) has worked on his voice a lot and sounds great. It really doesn't even sound like ATDI most of the time. Truly awesome album.

My fiancee' loved ATDI and was sad when they broke up. I didn't really care for their music. When Sparta formed, she was happy again and I took her to their concert. I liked Sparta alot more than ATDI. The songs just sounded better to me. I heard some of The Mars Volta and do not like it one bit. My fiancee' hasn't formed an opinion on them yet, but I think she still likes Sparta better.
UPDATED POST
My fiancee' reminded me that when we went to see Sparta the singer had laryngitis and they still rocked the place. As I suspected, she likes Sparta better than The Mars Volta.

Yeah I heard an advanced copy as well.. I never listened to ATDI, but this stuff was very, very good. Im definately picking up one of those 6.99 Circuit City copies when it's released.

Got this yesterday and am really impressed. I had their Tremulant EP and anxiously awaited this album. WOW! They definitely have the Prog. influence, with a nice edge. Very cool stuff IMO. I wonder what their videos will be like.
I also picked up Interpol's "Turn on the bright lights", which has been out a while now, and recommend it as well.

Very progressive, I am completely blown away by this album. The way the songs are put together is incredible, and cedric's voice is fantastic.
This does alot more for me than ATDI or sparta ever did.
Best album of 2003, beats out Radiohead by quite a bit
