The remedy

Is anyone else tired of this song?

There are people in my office to listen to the radio, and it seems like every other minute I am hearing "If you gots da poison, then I gots da remedy."

It was a quasi-decent song the first time I heard it, now I think it is really stupid. Besides, isn't this song a ripoff of The Prodigy's "Poison"?

Lyrics (Poison):
I got the poison.
I got the remedy.
I got the pulsating rhythmical remedy.
I got the poison.
I got the remedy.
I got the pulsating rhythmical remedy.
I got the poison.
I got the remedy.
I got the pulsating rhythmical remedy.
I got the poison.
I got the remedy.
I got the poison. I got the poison. I got the poison.

Lyrics (Remedy):
well i saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes
i cannot make them go away
cause you were born on the fourth of july, freedom ring
now something on the surface it stings
that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous
who says that you deserve this
what kind of god would serve this, we will cure this dirty old disease
if you've got the poison, i've got the remedy
the remedy is the experience
this is a dangerous liason
i says the comedy is that it's serious
which is a strange enough new play on words
i say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
so shine the light on all of your friends
because it all amounts to nothing in the end
i, i won't worry my life away
i, i won't worry my life away

well i heard two men talking on the radio
the crossfire kind of new reality show
uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack
they were counting down the ways to stab the brother in the be right back after this, the unavoidable kiss
where the minty fresh death breath is sure to outlast his catastrophe
dance with me
because if you've got the poison, i've got the remedy
the remedy is the experience
this is a dangerous liason
i says the comedy is that it's serious
which is a strange enough new play on words
i say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
so shine the light on all of your friends
because it all amounts to nothing in the end
i, i won't worry my life away
i won't, i won't, i won't, i won't worry my life away

when i fall in love
i take my time
there's no need to hurry when i'm making up my mind
you can turn off the sun
but i'm still gonna shine
and i'll tell you why
because the remedy is the experience
this is a dangerous liason
i says the comedy is that it's serious
which is a strange enough new play on words
i say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
so shine the light on all of your friends
because it all amounts to nothing in the end
i won't worry my life away
i won't, i won't, i won't worry my life away
i won't worry my life
i won't worry my life away
i won't worry life away...

Words and music by Jason Mraz & The Matrix
Sung by Jason Mraz

Wow! I didn't know that about The Matrix! I thought it was merely a sophisticated false reality created to ensalve humankind and harvest the body energy to power the army of evil robots. But to write songs as well !

Good thing Jason Mraz's wave settled down in Seattle a bit back. The radio stations here aren't playing that song so much. Jason Mraz is a very talented musician, but that first single of his was way poppy. His other music is definately not that radio-sounding, but what do you expect when you have the matrix writing with you? Might as well throw in the neptunes as your producers.

And please, a ripoff of Prodigy? The hook is similar, but the music is completely different, not to mention that Jason's song has a set, and complex, lyric structure.

So you aren't saying he didn't steal the concept a little bit?

I won't say the songs are absolutely the same. I mean come on, how many songs reference having the poison and having the remedy?
