Uncle Kracker - "Drift Away"

How sad is it that most who see this new video/hear this new song have no idea who Dobie Gray is?

Yes, I am aware that Dobie makes a cameo in the video.

Ever hear only ONE song from an artist and then dislike them without giving them another chance? Sounds harsh, but the very first single from this guy a couple of years ago scarred me.

I didn't mind "Follow Me" as much as "Drift Away". He just does absolutely nothing for a classic song. He would have been better off just putting the original track on his album.

My 5 year old son has this song memorized now...

But I'm confused... if I go to the store to purchase his album, where do I look? Adult Contempory? Country? Rap? Rock? I'm confused...

I find it funny that all of his chartable hits are in the AC and Top 40 World...

"Follow Me"
"In A Little While"
"Drift Away"

Current Placement on the Charts:

# 13 - Hot 100 (Peak #13)
#1 - Adult Contemporary (#1 for the last three weeks)
#8 - Top 40 (Last week #9))

It sounds great, but it's pretty much a clone of the original.
