Favorite Nirvana songs and what would be on that box set?

My favorites are
Territorial pissings (yes, its just Kurt screaming, but this the intensness of the song)
smells like teen spirit
breed
polly
in bloom
heart shaped box
rape me

And what would be on that nice box set that everyone wants?

having all of nirvana's cd's (as most people do) i would like to see all b-sides, live songs, live covers, demos, etc. i have a bootleg of the unplugged show that comes with another 10 demos from the "in utero" sessions. 6 of them are songs that made it on (some just a title change) and the other 4 are unavailable.

(edit: i had to consult "hooked on phonics")

If there is a boxset, hopefully it will include a DVD with concert footage. Maybe even Nirvana Unplugged.

It is too hard to pick just one Nirvana song, but the one that comes to mind right now is: Milk It

I'll take anything I can get on the Box Set. I already have all the Nirvana songs ever made (or, that fans know of), so I'll buy it no matter if there is new material or not.

Agreed. Anyone who will shell out the scratch for the boxed set will already have all of their albums.

Filling it half with unreleased material and half with crap we already own just to double the price would be mighty sleazy.

Is Courtney going to be involved in any way?

They should just compile all of the Outcesticide comps. There is some GREAT material on there.

My personal Best of Nirvana:

Blew
Blandest
Curmudgeon
Talk to Me
Milk It
Heartshaped Box
Verse Chorus Verse
Oh, The Guilt

My favorite Nirvana songs:

Heartshaped Box
Dumb
Rape Me
Lithium
Lake of Fire

I like all of their songs but the ones I listed I love the most.

Even In His Youth
Aneurysm
Curmudgeon
Territorial Pissings
Negative Creep
Verse Chorus Verse
Sliver
Heart Shaped Box

These are a few of my favorite Nirvana tunes. As far as a box set I would like everything that wasn't on Bleach, Nevermind, Incesticide or In Utero.

I would love to add their final and last song ever recorded, "You Know You're Right".

Even though that song was never finished, it's still an amazing song.

You do know that song is available on the Nirvana Greatest Hits CD right? It sounded like the song was finished.

"Junkyard" (song). From Outcesticide I think.

"Born in a junkyard
Born in a junkyard
Born in a junkyard
Born in a junkyard
Born in a junkyard
Born in a junk... YARD!"

I would rather have a box set of live cuts, b-sides, and outtakes. The regular songs can easily be purchased on one of their 4 studio albums.

I'll agree as long as they re-release the albums REMASTERED.

Great song. It is on one of the Outcesticides, and it's also floating around on various live discs. I've got a couple of different versions. I also love the cover of "Return of the Rat"!

Not that the current discs sound weak, but the greatest hits disc which was remastered, sounds much better imo.

It's not as if this was an outrageously productive/long lived band. IMO every version of every track they ever released should be included. What the hell, the Police did it, and they had more albums.

There was a live version of Rape Me on a bootleg that was much better than the studio version - and I was pissed it wasn't included on their 1996 live album - From The Muddy Banks.... I pray it will be in the box set.

My favorite Nirvana song:
Lounge Act
(if I had to choose)

I recall a really awesome bootleg box set called "Into The Black"... if an official release is anything like that, I think Nirvana fans would go nuts for it.

Simply the best bootleg box ever, it has everything from rare studio stuff, to the complete Seattle Halloween show. The original bootleg outcesticide cds were also really cool.

I hope the boxset is all unreleased stuff, but I'm not holding my breath

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic are the only ones behind the box set; Courtney got what she wanted with the greatest hits package.

It's my feeling that the two of these guys will not bastardize any future Nirvana releases as long as they are in control. Krist has really done nothing since Nirvana other than some activism stuff so I am sure he holds a special place in his heart for the band he started with his buddy. Grohl, although extremely mainstream and in danger of going "Blink 182 on us" has talked very adamantly about the box in interviews and would consider it to be one of the most important Nirvana releases to date.

I hope the boxcomes out sometime this year (hopefully around Christmas ).
