JEWEL new single leaked
Someone found a leak of jewel's new single off her upcoming album. It's called intuition. It's on Kazza, or you can listen to it at this fan page, not the usual Jewel, what do you think?

Its not a leak...you can listen to it on AOL "music first"..
I like jewels old stuff...but this is just plain AWFUL...
Its teenie bopper dance pop...sounds like something Britney or Christina would do...sounds like the record company really but the pressure on her..
The lyrics are all about "selling out" and being the "thing of the week"....sounds like you she gave the "music" the record company wanted and the lyrics are aimed at the record company..jusy my thoughts..

please, lets not start the selling out thing
Are you not getting the irony contained within this song? You say she's doing "teeny bopper dance pop"... what do you think she's REFERRING to in the first verse when she talks about post modern fads. That's entirely her point pop culture is just a series of meaningless trends that wind up invalidating each other. With this song she's putting herself in that context - saying "if you want me, let me know i promise i won't say no"... it's like she's saying "do you want this fad?" That's part of the point of the song. If you think she's just mindlessly trying to please the record company then you're missing her point. And if you think she's just following another meaningless trend to get a hit, then you're AGAIN missing the point because in the song she talks about "selling your sin" and "cashing in" and says "you will love me, just wait and see"... which is exactly along the lines of why you think she's doing this!!!! She *wants* a hit doens't she? She *wants* people to "love her". It's IN the song.. everything you're saying. Jewel agrees with you. Except she's saying it in a much more interesting and original way than picking up an old guitar and writing a heartful folk-ballad about consumerism.
The song is available on netscape now as well

I think it hits radio this or next week.

ha, good one Jerri Blank's Boy! i used to like jewel but each record she's put out has sort of dampened my interests in her music. her first cd was great, second was OK, third was...uhh...not great, fourth....judging from this track (i heard on aol), it is trash. she has gone from folk acustic music with thought provoking lyrics, to britney spears with a twangy-nashville-rodeo image. it's too bad.

You don't think these are thought provoking lyrics? Are we talking about the same song? These, along with a couple other songs, are probably the best lyrics Jewel has ever written.
'Intuition'
I'm just a simple girl
In a high-tech digital world
I really try to understand
All the powers that rule this land
They say Miss J's big butt is boss
Kate Moss can't find a job
In a world of post-modern fad
What was good now is bad
It's not hard to understand
Just follow this simple plan
Follow your heart
Your intuition
It will lead you in the right direction
Let go of your mind
Your intuition
It's easy to find
Just follow your heart, baby
You look at me
But you're not quite sure
Am I it or could you get more?
You learn cool from magazines
You learn love from Charlie Sheen
If you want me
Let me know
I promise
I won't say no
CHORUS REPEAT
You got something that you want me to sell?
Sell your sin, just cash in
You got something that you want me to tell?
You'll love me, wait and see
If you want me
Don't play games
I promise it won't be in vain
CHORUS REPEAT TO FADE
I've heard a few things about the video. Supposedly, everyday situations will turn into rediculous parodies of pop videos with backup dancers, wind machines, and things blowing up. The money shot....a fireman sprays his hose at Jewel and we get a wet t-shirt moment.

This will be the first Jewel cd I won't buy. I really liked Pieces of You and at the time she had some incredible unreleased material but the stuff she's put out since has been a disappointment.

If I recall, a few years ago she was very against working with certain producers cause she was afraid how they would alter her sound and was very againsts doing "teenie bopper pop"...
Like I said before..sounds to me like the record co. turned up the heat...

I'll hold of judgment until I hear the other tracks. I could see her doing this song, and making it sound like a teeny bopper pop song, just to make an ironic contrast of the lyrics and music.
But of course if the rest of the album is overproduced pop crap, then that theory goes out the window and she's just another lame sell out.

Um... Justin Timberlake? I'm confused....
What I've been reading for the past couple of months from Jewel's posse has frankly scared me. I have been dreading the release of this song, and with good reason. I think it's terrible. I really love Pieces of You, as I believe it was Jewel's most heartfelt and organic, and I liked her last two CDs enough for them to get much replay time. But this just sucks. And according to everything she's said about it, the rest of the album won't be much different.
There's no denying that she is appealing to a different kind of audience than she has in the past. And I generally think of creativity as progressive--this seems a major step back stylistically from what she has done in the past. You'd think that with three albums under her belt she would mature to the point of experimentation instead of giving in to the stuff that's playing on radios today.

I just heard the single on adult radio here in South Florida just last week. And it is already in heavy rotation down here. Before you know it, a remix of the single will probably be out.

Now in the video, will she be wearing a catholic girl school outfit? Mud wrestling/dancing in a ring with other mostly naked female/male dancers? Or hung up in marionette strings?

There is a remix single coming out, sometime in may. Her "Serve the Ego" remix single was really really good.
Also there is a 40 sec. clip of every song from her new album on Kazaa already. I think her record label leaked them out for publicity cause they are all messed with, either sped up or slowed down. Still cool to get a little preview though.

Re: JEWEL new single leaked
Did Jewel's plan backfire concerning the music video INTUITION? She's parodying yet this was her best song and her best video. Does anyone know whether or not music producers pushed her to release more songs and videos like this?
