The more and more I think about, it must be an error on some part. I called CHP and the girl said "It's scheduled for sometime in Oct." Plus I think remember Neil saying Alex was still mixing it prior to their SARStock performance.

Move along..nothing to see.

CDJapan sent me an email today saying I can preorder the CD. Not wanting to buy a CD when there should be a DVD, I searched amazon.com for an american release and came up empty-handed. So I searched amazon.co.jp and lo and behold, as of right now, Rush in Rio (Japanese version) DVD (yes DVD) is supposed to be released on 9/21

http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/...402573-0909934

In my experience, Japanese music DVDs tend to be the same as their American counterparts. So I am waiting for an American release date so that I don't have to pay the $55 or so for the Japanese release. But if the Japanese release date arrives and the Americans haven't announced anything, then I think I'll spend the money and get the Japanese one.

As Geddy sang in Closer to the heart, "whoa whoa!"

I have been waiting for this DVD for soooooo looonnnnggg now. God! I can't wait!

I 've been waiting for this DVD since the rumors began back around the time they played at MSG in N.Y on the VP tour. People were saying that they were filming that show for an upcoming DVD. Although very skepticle, I kept my fingers crossed.

Then came the definitive(sp) news, when it was anounced that they would release a DVD filmed in Rio. For me this was just great. Two of my favorate bands releasing live DVD's filmed in Rio, hell yea! Iron Maiden's Rock in Rio DVD and the soon to be Rush in Rio DVD, and it's going to be in 16x9!!! Widescreen!!! For me that is going to be 57 inches of Rush delight. Ya Hooo

Another little Rush in Rio DVD rumor, that has been going around, that I hope like hell is true, is that some of the extra footage may be from the Toronto show filmed during the Test For Echo Tour. It is said one may be 2112 in all it's full 20 minute glory. I have a bootleg from this tour, and it is killer, let me tell you. If that makes it to the DVD, I will ******!

Hey Raiders! I, too, am extremely psyched for this disk. ...but on a side note- I'd be surprised if the extra footage you're hoping for is from the Toronto show from TFE. I was at that show- and the crowd sucked. I'd actually have to say that of the 9 Rush shows I've seen, that was the worst. The crowd just wasn't into it, and as a result, Rush didn't seem as into it. The crowd only really responded to the radio hits, and on 2112, everyone sat down after Temples of Syrinx.

I am actually hoping that it is on the disc, though- since if they do a crowd shot, I know I will be able to find me! (We upgraded out seats from a scalper). I'm not on any of my DVDs!

Rush never, ever does covers. I have never heard of them doing this, the last cover they did was during the Toronto SARS concert when they did an instrumental of Paint It Black.

I actually have an MP3 of them doing Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away," but it's old. I don't recall them doing any covers, except for the Toronto show....

It was a joke. I was in a Tool listening mood yesterday, and I know a lot of Tool fans are Rush fans. Nevermind. Though that would have been cool.

The Toronto Sun, July 29, 2003. pg 49- Entertainment(pg 1.) "Rush busy, not hurried"
by Jason MacNeil
Like his other two bandmates, Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson is off the road this year after the successful 2002 Vapor Trails Tour. The group...will release RUSH IN RIO in September, a 2-DVD set recorded on the band's last night of the tour.
"As it turns out we've been putting this DVD together. I've been in the studio w/ the mixing portion of it for the last 7 weeks; we still have another couple of weeks to go on it," a weary Lifeson says. "Geddy has been in on the video part & Neil was invovled in the earlier stages of the assembly.
"I'll be honest w/ you, i've been in the studio from noon until 4am everyday, so nothing is going to bump up the pace...It's not just a mix of the audio for the show, it's a lot of other things that are included in the whole thing. It's the stereo mix & the 5.1 mix & they are separate issues.so the workload has been intense."
Aside from (the SARS-stock) show, the completion of the DVD & a triple live album released @ the same time, Rush will not do anything else this year. Lifeson says that although it's too early to tell, the band plans on making 2004 a work year, whether in the studio working on a new album or back out on tour. A decision will be made in September.

Not only are we getting a DVD, but a three CD live set also. Hell yea!

Japanese version still coming out 9/21...so far...

I wonder if someone else is mixing it? I doubt it. Maybe they just think they can replicate faster?
