favorite covers
what are your favorite song covers? among my favs are alanis' grease cover and the pumpkins' landslide cover.
__________
OK, as mentioned this is a duplicate but the original had reached three pages so there is place for a Part Two. However, I will be removing any threadcraps &/or off-topicality. This is strictly for stating the what and the why of your favorite covers. Anyone that wants to ignore this and try different.... you have been warned. [Benedict]

I like that Landslid cover by the pumpkins also.
Can some one help me find these covers on cd
STP did a cover of "Revolutions" and they played that on the radio often but can't find a copy of it. Also I think it was Johnny Rezenck of the goo goo dolls and Fred Durst doing a very good cover of Pink Floyd's cover of "Wish you were here" and I can't find either.

Your favorite "covers" ?
With talk of The Atari's cover of 'The Boys of Summer', here is a question. What are your favorite covers?
- Hoverphonic - 'Shake the Disease'
A cover of an already excellent Depeche Mode song. The female vocals add a certain dimension to it, along with the "ahh...ahh" echo in the background. - Vecrua Salt - 'Somebody'
Simple Depeche Mode song, made even more basic with this cover. - Tori Amos ' Smells Like Teen Spirit'
I'm a Tori Amos fan and I'm a Nirvana fan, but even I was skeptical that Tori could take an angst rock song and turn it into something piano based , that was pleasant to listen to. Boy was I surprised. This song turned out great . - My Ruin - 'Tainted Love'
The band brings this song into another world. A rock version, with a female vocalist screaming it. Much better than the dissmal Marilyn Manson cover.

Anything on Bryan Ferry's 'These Foolish Things'
Elvis Hitler's 'Yummy Yummy Yummy' [I think there's a lot of similarities between 60's rock and 'speed' metal anyway]
Black Flag's 'Louie Louie'
Inkubus Sukkubus 'Gypsies Tramps and Thieves'
Those are the only ones I can think of offhand; as you can tell, I don't really keep up with new music.

Hoo boy, this will take a while.
P.M Dawn's cover of "Norwegian Wood" by The Beatles. Wow, talk about taking a song and making it your own.
A pseudo cover - Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen) with the surviving members of Queen doing "Hammer to Fall" from the Freddy Mercury tribute show.
Anthrax's cover of Joe Jackson's "Got the Time"
Badlands' cover of James Taylor's "Fire and Rain." Wow, the emotion in this song is superb. We lost a great vocalist when Ray passed away.
Bruce Hornsby's cover of "End of the Innocence," which he co-wrote with Don Henley.
Bruce Hornsby's cover of John Lennon's "Imagine," performed live at the Arthur Ashe memorial.
Disturbed's cover of "Shout" by Tears for Fears
Foo Fighters cover of Jerry Rafferty's "Baker Street"
Herbie Hancock's jazz instrumental cover of Nirvana's "All Apologies"
Impellitteri's hard rock instrumental cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Johnny Cash's cover of "Personal Jesus" by Depehe Mode
Phil Colins' cover of "Burn Down the Mission" by Elton John
Poison's cover of "Cover of the Rolling Stone"
Sammy Hagar & Melissa Ethridge's cover of "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones (performed on some VH1 special)
Sarah McLachlan's cover of "Dear God" by XTC
Tim Curry's cover of "Summer in the City"
Lisa Loeb and Dweezil Zappa's cover of "Goodbye to Romance" by Ozzy
Pretty much any Metallica song covered by Apocalyptica
I could list a lot more... I collect covers :-)
