Moon Safari was also my first Air album. I played it over and over and over (and still do).. such a good album. If you like Moon Safari, you will definately like Premiers Symptomes. You might even hear something familiar in track 3, Les Professionnels.

There is a special place in my cd collection for the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, although many fans think it is way too poppy and radio-ish. The movie is one of my favorites, and the soundtrack plays such an integral role throughout the film that it has become one of my favorite albums, but not necessarily one of my favorite Air albums.

Moon Safari is the best album, but I think 10,000 Hz Legend has the best opening.

I thought 10,000 was a massive letdown because Moon Safari is THAT good. One of the best things I've heard in my life. I agree with Pantala that the previous disc is worthy and closest to Moon Safari. Virgin Suicides was different and made 10,000 seem less of a stretch to me, but it's still not nearly as good.

seems like moon safari seems to be the clear cut winner here...

last i checked, moon safari had 10 and all others had 1 or fewer.

so, with this wide of a consensus, does this mean that i'm more inclined to be disappointed if i purchase further albums?

Disappointed? You'll get different answers since I've seen this discussed before here, but I WAS disappointed with 10,000 because it is really just their 2nd full length "proper" disc (at least in the U.S.) It sounds like they were being weird just for the sake of being weird. And intentionally being different from Moon Safari. I hear a little Ween here and a lot of Beck there (because Beck is on a couple of songs). I didn't get the Beck thing at all. I really like Beck, but those songs just sound like.... Beck. I'm all for an artist growing and changing, but this didn't do it for moi.

I wish I had heard 10,000 and not known who it was... the comparisons to Moon Safari don't help. It was a letdown and I actually expected it to be somewhat. It's not horrible, but it's very different. Virgin Suicides is not bad... a few really good songs.

Live though AIR's shows are phenomenal, they bring extra power and intensity. The 10,000 songs really sound so much better performed live.

How big is the band now BTW? Do they tour?

I used to live on the french border and occasionally see their flyers at the local club before they were big.
