I've loved Op Ivy for years, though all I have is the self titled CD on Lookout Records. Definitely a band that has influenced many, many others since their day.

One of my favorite bands. I have their album they released on Lookout plus a couple of bootlegs -- one was "Unreleased energy" the other is "Radio days" -- I might have another. A lot of their bootleg stuff is pretty crappy though.

I also have about 5 or so 7"s by them too.

I'll try to forget that you ever said that.

Cynthia Plaster Caster Links

(The salon.com article is a fairly quick read and is informative enough to catch you up to speed regarding her exploits.)

actually its Common Rider. I got both their cds, the first is good, the second sounds a little boring. Sounds a little similar to OpIvy, but C.R. is not as pissed off.

I never really have checked out the music forum. But, intrigued to see Op Ivy in a post.

Back in the day, I saw there first show in a garage and how they evolved from *** (forgot the name if the band but started with a "B" and did a horrible version of "Rock you like a Hurricane", but they played both bands, the same day). They pretty much owned Gilman St after only playing a few months.

You can trust me that some of their early shows (including the first) will be preserved on DVD in the future. Virutally all of their shows were video taped.

Yep. Your right on the money. Basic Radio was it. I think I have the soundboard/video of one of their shows (w/ Tim and Matt).

It's funny how people heard about the garage show (maybe from the bootleg video, which must look absolutely dreadful). Since I swear there were only 10-15 people there (besides the bands).

Never liked Rancid as much as OPIV.

Ew.. I remember seeing Rancid on SNL. It was horrible! It lacked everything the OPIV brought to the scene.
