Andrew WK - why?
I'm beginning to think that I am the only person that finds nothing worthwhile about Andrew WK. I understand that it is just feel good, not-to-be-taken-seriously music - but still - it bothers me. There is plenty of other "fun" music out there...why do people turn their noses at They Might Be Giants but put in the Andrew WK cd as soon as the party starts?
Does anyone dislike his work?

There's a difference between fun, not to be taken seriously music and a song that simply repeats the word "party" 150 times in its lyrics. Some critics practically hailed Andrew WK as the next saviour of music a la Kurt Cobain, and that really depresses me. I hate the guy's music.

It's hard to be a drunken ******* while listening to Istambul (not Constantinople).
I pretty much can't stand Andrew WK. The Party Hard song was good, but the whole experience just leaves me flat. That, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with the 80's, as people keep gushing (like it's okay to like bad music again or something.) It's just more of that terrible mallcore/ozzfest crap.

I remember the first time I saw him I thought it was faith no more doing a reunion tour. After further review faith no more was much, much cooler.
This guy is a joke without a punchline.

I've never read any good reviews about his music. I almost hate to say this, but I'd put him one notch above those neo-metal bands. That's not saying much.

When I first heard of him, I downloaded Party Hard and although I didn't think it was bad, I didn't think it was especially great.
I later went to see him live, because well he was playing and my friends wanted to make fun of him. So I go and I seriously had the best time at his concert. He was a lot of fun, as was the music.
I bought his CD a week later, don't listen to it a lot, but I've been known to pop it in on a Friday night while I'm with friends. Can't beat good old fashioned fun

his cd was the most fun 5.99 i spent all summer
lyrically deep? no. musically challenging? no.
fun? yes!
although musically, i love how the pianos and keyboards are integrated into most of his songs. gives a unique touch not found in most other metal.

I like it to
Sure it's not great or anything & i do agree some of the lyrics are downright embaressingly moronic(I Love NYC for example)..yet it's fun nonetheless. I also don't listen to it alot, but every once in awhile give a few songs a listen & they are loaded with energy.
Not sure what i'll think of his next album,if he makes one that is.Yet for now this is a pretty good fun mindless album if you want loud wild music with no substance.

I reviewed this album back in February. Some choice quotes:
I have just one thing to say to all this [refering to the massive hype I was predicting]. Don't believe any of it! While I Get Wet may be a change in pace from the normal drivel that gets pushed on the masses, it isn't all that interesting, let alone good. Will U.S. audiences buy into the hype? Don't they always?
Honestly I'm not sure what the big fuss is. Without a giant marketing push this album would be virtually ignored as it ought to have been. Instead Blink 182 will have a new competitor on the shelf and MTV can tell us how "Rock Music Has Returned." As for me I'll be waiting for the next revolution.
