Be honest. He didn't sell 7 million albums to just a few fans. I know that I had To The Extreme when I was 14 and dumb. I admit to liking his music at the time.
I typically find that this guy and the New Kids on the Block are two "artists" people tend to shun as they get older or fail to admit that they ever listened to them.

i was around 10-11 at the time, but yeah.. i listened to VI. actually, VI was my first concert!! ouch..

*raises hand*, but I can say that I never went to one of his concerts

I got 3 of his CDs, yes I was one of the few who bought Hard To Swallow.

i listened to him back when i was 9 or 10 and then went to a concert he did last year at a little local hamburger joint...it was worth the $5 admission just for the nostalgia and the dirty look when i yelled 'play the turtle rap!!'.

thank god i was too young for him.

Sad to admit, but he played a local club and i went to check it out.
I always hated Vanilla Ice, but I give him credit for continuing in the Music biz. I kinda felt bad. The small room was packed. He did his new metal stuff for about a half hour, then played ice ice baby, and after that song, everyone left.
I give him credit though. I never bought any of his cds, however.

Ton Loc is coming to town this weekend....I may check that out.

Even a a young boy, I knew these were true crap.

I liked "Ice Ice Baby" and "Play that Funky Music" when I was in junior high but never bought any of his stuff. I was more of a metalhead at that age.

To anyone thanking God that they were too young for Vanilla Ice...talk to me in 10 years and let me know how you feel about that Linkin Park or Pink album that you think kicks so much ass today...

I was in middle school & definitely bought his tape. Loved it too... Those were the days...

Thankfully, I was 19 or so when he became popular, so I saw right through his act. I was a metalhead, anyway.

I was a senior in high school and due to the crowd I was around all day, I bought the album, even though I was more of a Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin guy. C'est la vie. At least it makes for an interesting curio now.

That album came out my Eighth grade year in Middle School. Needless to say that everyone who was anyone had it. Years later, we were all totally embarassed that we ever bought it or listened to it. I know many guys who tried to get the hairstyle he had going, they also try to hide the pictures taken of them at that time as well.

Yep, I bought "To the Extreme". Still have it. Before you start judging me, let me say that I haven't listened to it for quite a few weeks.

oh, my....My friend and I went to see him for a night of yucks when he came to Reading, PA over this past summer....Man, it was pathetic...Pathetic to see how far he has fallen, secondly all the little 18 years dancing with him on the stage when he played Ice Ice Baby...Oh, my...

V-Ice is great. I actually never listened to him much when he was HUGE. I mean of course you were flooded with his music and videos at the time. I've never been to a concert, but i do own all his CD's.

I bought To The Extreme on cassette tape back when he was popular. I also bought the VHS movie "Cool as Ice" and the CD soundtrack on a clearance rack when he wasn't popular, mainly as a huge joke, and because I've never seen anything so awful with such a big budget behind it.

I downloaded his "Too Cold" rap/metal remake of "Ice Ice Baby". It's not bad and kinda interesting.

I've been to one concert about five years ago. I didn't have to pay admission, so I don't know if that counts. I went hoping to see a train wreck, and got to hear "Ice Ice Baby" as an encore.

I don't think the music is bad, but it's certainly a long way from good.

I've got all the same albums as DJ_Longfellow, and love V-Ice.. I must be a very rare breed.

Also saw him in concert a couple years back when he was touring for Hard to Swallow. It was packed, and pretty much everyone stayed even after he played "Too Cold", which is the newer metal version of Ice Ice Baby.

Nope. I was groovin' on Pixies and Sugarcubes, two VERY masculine sounding groups. But nah, the only rap I digged then and dig now was old school, with some Beastie Boys and Public Enemy thrown in.
