2003: Lots of Depeche Mode stuff
Just read on one of the many DM newsgroups that 2003 will be a year of plenty o' Depeche Mode related material to be released. First up, Fletch's side project Client. He manages the band (from the concept to the songs, even helps musically). The album is produced by Gareth Jones (who also produced DM's "Black Celebration" among other albums). Should be interesting. Then, Martin Gore's next solo album will be out in April. It will contain obscure cover songs (like his previous solo album, "Countrfeit"). This will be followed by frontman Dave Gahan's solo album. Due in June. October will bring the much talked about Depeche Mode remix album. Then, "101" will finally make it's DVD debut. And word has it that it will be loaded with extras. Let's hope the entire Rose Bowl show will be on the disc (or discs).
For those who care that is............

Good info, Daytripper. Don't forget that DM are releasing DM 86>98+ on Nov. 26. This will be a two disc set including the original 86>98 videos on disc 1. "Disc 2 features nearly one and a half hours of material including the US videos for "One Caress", "Strangelove '88", "Condemnation (Paris Mix)", and "But Not Tonight", from the Tamra Davis film "Modern Girls", together with three documentaries (e.p.k.'s): "Violator", "Songs Of Faith and Devotion", and "Ultra"."
I hope that the 101 dvd will have the full concert. It's damn annoying when they cut away from the performance.
Also, anyone interested in DM should definitely check out their most recent dvd, One Night in Paris. Good Stuff.

There are also rumours that Dave has considered foregoing a solo tour in favour of getting back together with the boys for a new studio album. One can only hope...!

Wha... Someone please explain why they are re-releasing the 86-89 videos when they still haven't released the 81-85 videos! I guess you could argue that DM's earlier videos are nothing to write home about, but I'd still like to own them on DVD.

I suppose that sums it up why we haven't seen a "Videos: 81 > 85" as yet. Albeit, other reasons may include the fact that the band isn't enamoured with material released prior to "Black Celebration".
That being said, they really should release an early years compilation with videos that have never seen the light of day on even VHS ("Get The Balance Right", "Leave In Silence", etc.).
One can dream..............

I have 81>85 on laser disc and as much as I like the videos (for camp value if nothing else) Devotional and 101 would be much better choices for dvd releases. Of course if they released it on dvd, I would buy it the very day it came out.
