The Donnas

Wow! Just saw their Portland show and it was unreal! They rocked the place down. Amazing show. The new album is great too. People are knocking it because of the 70s metal bent but it sure seems to me to be a very logical progression from their early stuff. I really like it. Anyone else??

I love The Donnas! I have seen them two times and they put on a great show. I have also met them and they are very cool.

My favorite song from their new CD is "Pass it Around".

Saw them at the Warped Tour a couple years ago. They blew EVERYONE (Green Day, Lunachicks, Dickies, TSOL, NOFX, etc...)off the stage! the guitars were blisteringly loud and they just smoked! Before they even played a note, after TSOL just got done on the other stage, the singer goes "We'd like to thank our grandfathers in TSOL for opening the show for us!". Punk!

The new album rocks! Probably the best of the year. Not a bad song on it. Being a product of the 70's/80's metal rawk music (KISS especially), I welcome their true rockin' spirit! Very refreshing and they're unashamed to admit their infuences.

Great review. I would've given it 5 stars though, since I've heard it about 20 times already!

One thing: you spelled "Motley Crue" wrong.

Hahaha!

Thanks for catching that spelling error. Consider it fixed!

I've listened to Spend the Night about a dozen times already too. Great disc!

I LOVE The Donnas. I saw them last year with Bratmobile and Tuuli. Wonderful show. They rock harder than most guy bands flooding the market these days. I'm going to see them when they play Austin, TX in November.

I saw the Muffs a few years ago in Austin, TX. They rocked the house. Buck opened up for them. They made a comment about how they had to replace a club's sign the last time they were in Austin because they broke it. Now that the club is closed, they wanted the sign since they paid for it.

Weren't some of the Muffs members of that 80's act The Pandoras? I liked them, even though they weren't the best musicians.

Kim was the bass player and Melanie (ex Muff) was the keyboard player for The Pandoras.

I saw them many times when I lived in Los Angeles. They were really good when they were a psychedelic garage band. Paula later decided to go a metal direction. I believe this is when Kim started thinking about creating her own band.

I've seen the Muffs about 40 times! I saw basically all the LA area shows from '91 or so until '96.

Just saw them a couple weeks ago. New album should be out soon.

The Donnas new video is supposed to debut today (11/1/02) on an MTV program right before cheesy TRL.

I would love to see Donna F kick some chessy teen pop singer's azz.

They're not going to actually be on TRL are they? Now that would be a must see! Maya Ford could kick just about any other pop star's ace.

Hi surf.....

No. From what I heard their new video will be shown on a new "pre TRL" show. I programmed by VCR to tape it.

The Muffs are about as good as it gets. I've only seen them one time live, but love their recordings. I also was a fan of the first two Pandoras albums. We used to laugh back in the 80's about all these GREAT "punk" bands who ended their careers by going the metal route. I've never understood that. TSOL anyone?

I saw the Donnas about a year ago and enjoyed the show. I don't have all of their stuff, but plan on getting more.

I have all of the Muffs stuff and like them. This is probably blasphemy, but I'd like them a little better if she screamed a little less.

Saw them live once and it was a good show.
