Just saw Stone Temple Pilots last night.......

at the Arizona State Fair. It was almost 9 years to the day when they played there before. A pretty good show. Scott Weiland looks like a skeleton, though. He's all pasty white and skinny. He says he's off the heorin, but I have my doubts.

I caught the band in August of 2001, at the Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0. It was the only US date they would play that year, and they just released Shangri-La-Dee-Da, and even though the new songs weren't that great, Scott showed some real energy. The band still plays Wicked Garden with really fast guitar work. All and all, I was pleasantly surprised with the band.

In the early stages of Making of, "Shangri- La DEE DA", they had enough songs to make it a DOUBLE ALBUM, but they were convinced NOT TO by THEIR Company or Producer...The sessions were also filmed to be released, i believe...They were thinking of releasing probably a sort of RAREities cd (made up of the Shangri sessions)...
I think that STP should Release a GREATEST HITS cd w/ maybe two KICKS ASS EARLY STYLE Songs, THEN start a NEW album with a new ATTITUDE and KICK ASS songwritng like the first TWO albums...

I've seen them three times - the first being their 1996 tour for Tiny Music, which was a great show. The second was the tour for 4, and that show rocked as well. However, they seemed out of place at last year's Family Values. It would have been better if they had just toured with Staind as their opening act.

They're the best live band I've seen. Unfortunately I've only caught them once, 2 or 3 years ago at X-fest in Pittsburgh. Weiland is an amazing performer.
