Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra fans here?
Anyone know Lee or is too obscure for the forum? How about his song "Some Velvet Morning"?

Yeah thats a good song. A radio show I listen to uses it for bumper music. He also had Lee Hazlewood on the program to talk about how that song came about.

Don't forget to get the "Movin' With Nancy" DVD which has them doing "Some Velvet Morning" and "Jackson" together. She also does "Sugartown" on it.
Did anyone else notice how Sonny Bono stole Lee's haggard cowboy look?

Yes that is an excellent DVD. I rented it thinking it would be stupid and pleasantly surprised with how much I loved it. So I bought the thing and have played it quite a bit. It's caused me to spend too much money on Lee and Nancy cds, much to the chagrin of my wife.

I have a friend that introduced me to the song "Jackson". He loves that song. I think he did a drag routine to it or was thinking about doing a routine to it once. I thought it was a pretty good song. I like "These Boots Are Made For Walking" from Nancy. That's about it though.

Yes I really like the song "Jackson". The video to that is very funny in a strange way.
It's on the "Movin With Nancy" DVD. The show was a special in the 60's on NBC sponsored by the "mad, mad taste of RC Cola".
That's what got me into Nancy and Lee's stuff.
I rented it from Netflix expecting it would be stupid, but it was excellent. I played it about ten times b4 I returned it and bought my own copy. There are lots of rat pack appearances plus some cool vids and fun commercials for RC. Besides "Jackson" the songs "Some Velvet Morning" and "Sugar Town" are highlights.
Check it out.

I'm a major fan. I have all of the Smells Like Records reissues. As far as I'm concerned, Requiem for an Almost Lady is an absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest break-up albums ever made.

Slightly off topic, anyone else think Lee's version of These Boots Are Made For Walkin' is infinitely better than Nancy's? It has so much more swagger and humor with Lee rocking the vocals.

What about her version of "Bang, Bang (My Baby Shot me Down)" - which was featured in the Kill Bill soundtrack? Great stuff...

He did a few versions of boots-some live IIRC. Those are fun w/his commentary in the song about when they were recording it. Heard that one?
Requiem is a great album.

I try to incorporate fans thoughts on the show and may even use your thoughts if I have persmission.
Best,
Matt

Was this aired? I am guessing with one post we will never know. Guess I'll try your email.

Re: Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra fans here?
Just saw this bumped thread & thought I'd share a funny recent story. Last fall I got an internet order from a "Nancy Sinatra" from Los Angeles. My first thought was "Nah...," but the order was for Man From U.N.C.L.E. Season 3. I quickly checked and, sure enough, Ms. Sinatra appeared in an episode of that season.
The address looked to be an office building (judging by the name, suite #, etc.), so I Googled Nancy. Sure enough, turned out to be the business address for her personal assistant. I included a personal note to her and got a nice email back from the PA saying he would be sure to pass it along to her and that she loved to hear from her fans.
I sent a very brief (two-line) responding email thanking him for his time, and he sent one back that read, "Keep rockin' !" Nice experience.

I thought one of the odder and cool things Lee Hazlewood did was a duet with Bela B from the German band Die Ärzte -- Lied des Tages. I semi-recently picked up the LP and was pretty surprised to see him on it

The book really has to be seen to be believed. Probably the best one I've ever seen included in a musical box set.

I have it and love it. All of the Light In The Attic releases are great.
I believe I have everything that is possibly out there on Lee but I'm always hoping to find more.
