The One and Only Bob Mould Fall Tour Thread
I saw the third date of Bob Mould's Fall Tour Friday night in Nashville, and it was one of the best solo shows I've ever seen. He played about seventeen songs including several tracks from "Modulate which were better live than on disc. After the show he signed a disc for me and took a picture with me which I have posted here. I'm the fat one with hair for all you non-Bob fans. I'll post a setlist soon.

Thank God we have a One and Only Bob Mould Fall Tour Thread. Don't you hate it when there are five or six Bob Mould Fall Tour threads when all we really need is one?
Just giving you a hard time. Out of curiosity, does Mould play a number of Husker Du songs in his set or does he stick mostly to his solo work. Seems pretty cool that he would take the time to pose for a pic.

I saw Bob Mould when he was touring in his band Sugar back in 1994. He walked out on stage and didn't even acknowledge the audience. Half the songs they played weren't even on the new CD, the other half he didn't even sing, and they didn't do any Husker Du, or solo material!! He didn't even play "Helpless" which was the first single off Copper Blue. They must have played 35 mins. And then said "Thank you goodnight". Thank you goodnight?!?!?! After about a minute he walked back out and said "Hey I think we know one more." I said "You better know one you idiot!!" I was expecting It's Too Late or See A Little Light for the encore, instead I got "You Really Got Me".
As I was walking out of the club I said to myself "you know something, I got in for free and I still feel like I was ripped off!!"
The next day I proceeded to trade in all my Husker Du/solo Bob Mould/Sugar CD's. That guy is not getting one more cent of my money.

Perhaps you should go a little easier on Mr. Mould, Capt. H. He's a shy one.
I'm lucky enough to say I've seen Bob in several incarnations, from "New Day Rising" -era Husker Du to Sugar. He never once acknowledged the audience at any of these shows, but it never really put me off.
As for not playing "hits" (such a relative term) or defying your expectations, IMHO he's to be commended for trying to branch out a bit. His encores almost always seem to be covers, my favorite being a brutally beautiful cover (a la "Eight Miles High") of the Who's "Armenia City in the Sky" when I saw Sugar in Toronto.
