Help ID song: "Get your Rocks Off"
Before I get into this, I feel like this might be a really "famous" song that somehow passed me by. Guess I'm not so into the genre. Anyway...
Was at a club last night, and it was a "Brit Pop" night (they use this term expansively, to cover everything from Beatles and the Stones to Pulp, Oasis, Stone Roses, etc.)
Anyway there was this straight ahead rock 'n' roll song, maybe kinda punky or maybe 70's sounding, whose main chorus, and major yelling part for the crowd near the end, consisted of mostly the phrase, "Get your rocks off" repeated over and over.
For God's sake, who was that? Anyone?
Like I said, it could very well be a really famous song that just passed me by somehow.

Def Leppard had such a song in 1980 I think by the name of, er, "Rocks Off". I think it was their first ever UK single.
The lyrics sites don't show the repeated "Get you rocks off, get your rocks off, honey" chorus that I remember but as this was the time of the New Wave if British Heavy Metal it may have sounded slightly punky!
Check out the audio clip at CDNow.

Thanks for the quick responses, as it was driving me crazy. I think it might be Def Leppard, but can't check as I'm having RealPlayer issues on my home computer (ie--don't feel like downloading it yet). So I'll have to check it from work on Tuesday.
When I say, "kinda punky", I mean "sounds like they can't play their instruments very well" so it may not be very accurate
At any rate, I'll check the song on CDNow on Tuesday, and if that's the song, I'll be prepared to thank you profusely.

"Rocks" is track two from their 1994 album Give Out But Don't Give Up.
"Get your rocks off, get your rocks off, honey. . ."
I still got it.

Song: Getcha Rocks Off
Album: The Def Leppard E.P.

Well, we were gettin’ ready just the other night
When a knock on the dressing room door
Gave way to a leather jacket little girl
Who we’d never ever seen before
In her red satin dress and her high heeled shoes
She took us all by surprise
And when she asked us what we wanted to do
Well, she said it with her eyes
Just getcha rocks off
When we finally took the stage there she was
But she wasn’t on her own
Because she’d brought some friends maybe five or six
Yeah, she must have been on the phone
And when they started dancing and jumping around
Well we couldn’t believe our eyes
’Cause they’d got the whole damn audience rockin’
And they’d got us paralyzed
Just getcha rocks off

Dr. Hook has a song called Get your Rocks off, Marilyn Manson covers it as well. I've never heard the original by the way so it could be a completely different song.

And the winner is.....
So I checked out the samples at cdnow.com, and the track I heard on that blurry Saturday night, was indeed.... Primal Scream.
Now I'm a little embarrassed that I thought it might be Def Leppard.
I guess Primal Scream never made it on to my radar.
At any rate, thanks Virex. I read the review of the album on CDNow, and man, that's really cool that George Clinton did vocals on one of the tracks!!! I'm going to check out that album.... I sense a purchase in my near future.
