Music cd on Ebay-starting bid-$1500.00

Check out this cd on Ebay. There probably aren't any Raspberries fans here looking for this one, at least not at this price.

Do you think the guy's a little too defensive or does he have a valid point?

I would be shocked if anyone would pay this amout for "any" band, and this is a "lesser known band". Absurd IMHO!

That is unusual, an ebay seller who states that he will pay for priority shipping out of his own pocket!

He's selling it in a fixed price listing, not an auction.

No, they weren't popular, but did have some influence. If you like power pop at all (Teenage Fanclub, Material Issue, Matthew Sweet, Velvet Crush, Pooh Sticks) then you can thank a band like this, Big Star and a ton of 60's acts. The Raspberries get knocked back a notch in my book for what Eric Carmen did in the future ("All By Myself"), but there are people who really dig this band.

$1,500 for a Cd seems insane. Seems like you could get this stuff for free from the net. I sold a few Cd's on Ebay for over $100 each, but I can't for the life of me understand spending even THAT for a disc.

Think maybe someone should get his Zero key unstuck... I don't see paying anywhere near that amount for a DVD, CD etc (highest was buying Salo from ebay) but even that was a third of the price of this CD...

At first I thought it was a Cranberries CD.

I've never heard of the rasberries, but if this sells I'm going to start putting cd's on ebay for outrageous prices, and with weepy stories, just to see if I can make a buck.

The Raspberries included Eric Carmen who had big solo hits with Hungry Eyes (from Dirty Dancing), Make Me Lose Control, & All By Myself (later remade by Celine Dion). They had a few Top 40 hits back in the 70s.

The Raspberries were a great band. Quite influential, and they have a real hardcore following. I'm not familiar with this particular CD, but if it is what he says it is, it may very well be worth that much to a serious collector. I worked at a rare records store during the '80s, and my boss would routinely sell rare records for $700 to $1,000 each (usually obscure prog/psych '70s albums). There are many serious collectors, particularily in Japan, that will pay ANYTHING for certain rare items they need in their collection.
I wouldn't be dissing this guy just yet. $1,500 might be a bargain for this CD.

"Go All the Way" was their biggest hit. They also had 6 other songs to hit the Top 40. They only released four albums, between 1971 and 1974. All four are excellent. They never had a TV show, however.

I have shelled out probably over $1,000 (one thousand) dollars trying to collect all the Vangelis - Blade Runner audio bootlegs. These are bootlegs - not even official releases.

Raspberries are a great power pop band from the 70's

This is a CD that was withdrawn and never made it to stores. BMG or Columbia House pressed and sold some before the dics was cancelled.

Maybe a thousand or so exist at most.

But I wouldnt pay 1500 for it...

Less than two days to get this item. They were a good band. I saw a pseudo reunion a few years back with everyone but Carmen. It was a Scott McCarl cd release party-an excellent disc.
