Class Of 2003
Ok, I don't know if you middle-age white men can help me, but I'll shoot at you anyway.
I am a editor on my high school's yearbook. So it is pretty self explanitory on what I will be doing.
Anyway, we are having trouble trying to figure out a class song.
Our yearbook theme is: FIRE & ICE (Robert Frost poem). Though I don't think that is relevant.
My school is urban, yet it is in a surburban area. Make any sense? 80% black, 10% chaldean/arabic, 10% other. My school is sort of like a playboy mansion, with tons of crazy, mean and down right hilarious people. No one makes sense.
SO, my QUESTION is, does anyone have a SONG - a good one - that might work for our class of 2003.
Right now I have the song GHETTO CHILD by JOE. I'm still pondering ideas for a CLASS SONG. One school had the Wonder Years theme song, but thats like the only great great TV theme song thats fits anything.
Anyway, let me know if you guys can come up with anything.

yea GHETTO CHILD sounds like a great class song to remembered years from now as your high school experience! I guess pop that coochie is too old?

If you are looking for street cred, go with a classic from the heyday of motown:
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday - G.C. Cameron
Or if you insist on the more recent a capella cover
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday - Boyz II Men

It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday
How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
I don't know where this road
Is going to lead.
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through.
If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

Theres a thing going around our school to choose a class of 2003 song: I put down WE WANT FUN - Andrew WK. If it wins we gather a band to perform is at graduation, can't argue with a party metal graduation.

Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!"

I think you meant Another Brick in the Wall, part II

(although I like the lyrics to part 3 the most:
"I don't need no walls around me.
And I don't need no drugs to calm me.
I have seen the writing on the wall.
Don't think I need any thing at all.
No. Don't think I need anything at all.
All in all it was all just the bricks in the wall.
All in all it was all just the bricks in the wall."

Pat Benatar - Fire And Ice
Ooh, you're givin' me the fever tonight
I don't wanna give in, I'd be playin' with fire
You forget, I've seen you work before
Take 'em straight to the top, leave 'em cryin' for more
I've seen you burn 'em before
*Fire and ice,
you come on like a flame then you turn a cold shoulder
Fire and ice, I wanna give you my love
But you'll just take a little piece of my heart
You'll just tear it apart
Movin' in for the kill tonight
You got every advantage when they put out the lights
It's not so pretty when it fades away
'Cause it's just an illusion in this passion play
I've seen you burn 'em before
(chorus)
So you think you got it all figured out
You're an expert in the field, without a doubt
But I know your methods inside and out
And I won't be taken in by fire and ice
(Solo)
(chorus)
You come on like a flame then you turn a cold shoulder, fire and ice
You come on like a flame then you turn a cold shoulder, fire and ice
Ooh, you're givin' me the fever tonight
