Wouldn't it be great if the band got back together again?
What bands would you like to see reunite and either go on a "nostalgia" tour or perhaps even record together again?
The one caveat I have with this thread is that:
THE POSSIBILITY OF THE BANDS IN QUESTION GETTING BACK TOGETHER HAS TO ACTUALLY BE PLAUSIBLE!
In other words, if one of the members of the band is DEAD - NO REUNION IS POSSIBLE. Hence:
- NO BEATLES
- NO LED ZEPPELIN
- NO DOORS
- NO BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY
- NO NIRVANA
- NO JOY DIVISION
Etc. etc. and so forth.
That being said - maybe because I caught a late, late night spinning of "Murder by Numbers" on the radio to which I was tapping and singing along, but I'd really, really love to see Sting get over the whole gargantuan ego thing and get back together with Stewart and Andy and just do the whole POLICE thing again.
The same goes for THE TALKING HEADS, THE SMITHS, the original full line-up of DEPECHE MODE, the original 4-man band line-up of R.E.M., and a resurgence of THE CURE (since that's always so up-in-the-air as to whether Robert really means he's going into permanent retirement this time.)
Which band - whose original line-up is still healthy and able - would you like to see get back together?

For another contender in the "Never going to happen" category, I'd like to nominate:
The Pixies.
It's possible, though. I would have put Jane's Addiction in that category, but they're back together, too.

Oh, I thought by the thread that you thought it would be cool if THE BAND got back together (and it would, but it violates your stated rules above about dead members).
How about Cream, I'd love to see them.
Simon & Garfunkel
Original Pretenders line up
I'd like to see the Eagles together long enough to record a new album, rather than just copy their old material note-for-note.
And I'll second The Police, Soundgarden, Talking Heads
but I doubt Bill Berry would be able to take REM out of their current funk and it'll take a lot more than the addition of David Lee Roth to reserect Van Halen.

Oooh - good one. And actually one I had originally considered when I conceived the thread, but apparently neglected to mention above.
That's what 4 hours of sleep will do for you.

I was so damn pissed that they broke up since they pushed back touring with beastie boys (one member of the beastie boys got into an accident and the tour was pushed back, later during the delay Rage broke up)

Robert Smith has announced a special one off concert in May of 2003 that will include all past members of The Cure. I would love to see this live. They do plan to record it for a DVD though. I don't think he means the people that filled in on some tour dates, but actual official members.
I would also like to see The Smiths get back together.
