When all is said and done, The Beatles get my nod every time. Everything that's come after that I liked owes something to them when you get down to it.

I think there will be a large group of votes for one band in particular, and about 10,000 single votes for everyone else's favorite band.

Smashing Pumpkins.
I'm going on longevity, because Siamese Dream was the first cd I ever heard, and I still put it in at least once a week. That's more than I can say for many of my other albums.
Close behind are Sonic Youth and Radiohead. Washing Machine was the first tape I ever bought and I still think that "The Diamond Sea" is one of the most beautiful rock songs I've ever heard. OK Computer was the third cd I ever bought, and its still my favorite by them. Of course all the others are great as well, even though I'm more partial to their oder stuff.

I've been listening to Stones' Exile for almost 25 years now.
Anywho, here they are, the greatest rock bands of all time - take your pick...
Beatles
Stones
Zeppelin
Either way, you can't loose.
