Actually EVERY riff on that album is outstanding (and catchy!). My fave death/speed metal album ever.

"Riffs" are so hard to be objective about...

Some of my favorites:

1, "Sister Ray" - Velvet Underground
2. "Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying" - Belle and Sebastian
3. "Classic Noodlanding" - Do Make Say Think
4. "Vamos" - The Pixies
5. "This Charming Man" and "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" - The Smiths
6. "Broken Chairs" - Built to Spill
7. "I'm Only Sleeping" - The Beatles

and perhaps my favorite...

8. "TNT" - Tortoise

Is this thread really asking, "What are you favorite hooks?"

Hey Pyro, nice thread revival! Anyway, we had a contest on this at our local station and believe it or not Soundgarden's "Outshined" won for best riff. Okay, it was a Seattle station, but still a sweet riff.

Danzig- "Twist of Cain" (BTW, are there better lyrics than "Twist of Cain-o, Yeah inside my Brain-o"?)
Slayer -Angel of Death & Raining Blood - spinechilling good
Pantera-Walk
Metallica - For Whom
Megadeth- Good Mourning\Black Friday

Alright, that's enough and yes, I like minor chord riffs.

My personal favorite guitar "riff" song of all time.

Steve Lukather's guitar solo in the bridge part on "Running With The Night" by Lionel Ritchie is awesome!

His rythmic sound is very distinctive IMO

Also love Prince's "Little Red Corvette" a classic!!

Nobody ever mentions "Computer Blue" either from Purple Rain but that short solo in the middle gives me chills each time I hear it

Even Hendrix is smiling in his grave
