I've been looking to get some music by a couple bands and was wondering if anyone could suggest some of their better songs. The bands are: Black Heart Procession, Califone, God Speed You Black Emperor, My Bloody Valentine, ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead, and lastly, Holopaw.

I bought the Ugly Cassanova cd and its fabulous!

While this isn't gonna help you narrow anything down (sorry in advance), "Source Tags and Codes" by And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine are both indespensible albums. I could not, in good conscience, recommend just a few songs from each CD. Buy both and be blown away.

As for Godspeed!, well, all their tracks are about 15-30 minutes long. You really need to be driving in your car alone at night or sitting in the dark at home thinking about how all your friends hate you and the government is completely corrupt to fully appreciate them.

Umm...I'm sure there are samples somewhere... if you're gonna try to snag an mp3, go for track 1 on disc 1 of "Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven"...it's beautiful and ominous.


...and yes, "Source Tags and Codes" is really cool, but I might try a track that is NOT track 1 to start...because that one wears on me a bit as a first taste.
