DJ Shadow - The Private Press

My thoughts are about the same as yours. I've bought a lot of stuff this week, and have only given this one a single spin so far. I will say that I expected it to be a bit more of a departure from Endtroducing after reading a few reviews of the disc. Still very enjoyable though. I'll try to write more after putting it on a few more times.

The Bonus disc has a different version of Giving Up The Ghost and "Pushin' Buttons", the live track of Shadow, Cut Chemist and Nu-Mark. It's a lot of fun. The live track is about 18 minutes long.
As for the album, I think it's excellent, but I agree that it's not AS GOOD as Endtro, but few things could be, really. Shadow has given us some more great music, and hopefully he'll continue to do so for years.

Shadow had to pull out of the Smokin' Grooves tour (with Outkast, Lauryn Hill, etc), because it conflicted with his own tour plans.
Unfortunate. But he was only going to do about 3 Grooves shows, anyway... in CA and CO.

Is his new album more of his hip-hop DJ tricks? I enjoyed Entroducing, but I'm more interested in his scratching and hip-hop dancers themes.
Fans of Shadow who haven't seen SCRATCH, should check it out when it comes on DVD. Great documentary on DJs.

The Private Press is closer to Endtroducing... than it is to the earlier "DJ trickery" singles/compilations, in my opinion.
There are 3 or 4 tracks that might fall into the area that you're talking about, with the rest lying closer to the movie-soundtracky feel of Endtro (which I love).
It's an excellent album, though... I suggest giving it a shot if you liked Endtro.
I mean, he IS "a BAD ... ass ... muh fuggin' DJ!" after all...
