The Ramones are one of my favorite bands to listen to.
That being said, I don't really care that Dee Dee OD'd. It's what he gets for doing the stuff. I wouldn't call him worthless, for he was in one of the coolest bands ever. I just don't feel bad for him.

To bad TALENT has to take a back seat to addictions.. Actually this is the way RockStars are supposed to go out.... so he's on track with his death.

Well, I'm pretty mad at Dee Dee right now too, but I still love him. I've written and re-written this damn post so many times, but everytime it's just too negative. I'm really sick of heroin, both in the limelight, and with my own friends over the years.
Alright, enough of that. Dee Dee was a founding father of punk, and a savior of rock & roll. Onstage, he and his fellow Ramones were godlike, and I'll never forget his sound-off count, his mile-a-minute playing, his stage presence, and that iconic trademark stance of his.
R.I.P. Dee Dee, at least now you don't have to fight it anymore.

Has anyone read his book? Interesting title: Surviving the Ramones.
I saw it at a cd store a few hours before his death and decided I'd check the Amazon reviews and maybe go grab it. I'm sure it's gone now though.

Punk idol DEE DEE RAMONE was buried in a hush-hush HOLLYWOOD funeral yesterday evening (June 11), attended by the surviving members of THE RAMONES, and close friends and family.
Dee Dee, real name Douglas Colvin, died of a suspected heroin overdose last week at his home in Los Angeles. He was 49. His wife Barbara found him dead on a sofa. Police found a syringe and other drug paraphernalia at his home scene.
The fatal dose was his first fix after eight years of being clean, close friend Legs McNeil claimed after the service.
"I guess his body wasn’t used to it anymore," said McNeil, who coined the term 'punk rock' soon - The Ramones formed in the early 70s. "Who knows why he went back on it? We all thought he’d completely turned his back on heroin."
Surviving - Ramones Johnny, Tommy and CJ were at the funeral in Forever Hollywood cemetery among the graves of Hollywood greats like Rudolph Valentino, Peter Lorre and Jayne Mansfield.
Dee Dee's wife of 10 years Barbara led the laying of wreaths. The band’s former manager Danny Fields was also there.
"The funeral was quiet and really nice, not like Dee Dee’s life at all," added McNeil.
Dee Dee formed - The Ramones in the Queens district of New York with Johnny, Tommy and Joey in 1974. Frontman Joey died in April last year after a long battle with cancer.
Dee Dee was always the most punk of the crew, taking more drugs and living the life. He last shared a stage with his fellow - Ramones in March, when the group was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
