I like a couple of those bands you mentioned! I thought I'd open up this thread and see KoRn or System Of A Down. Anyways, I'd recommend checking out:

American Nightmare - Background Music
Avenged Sevenfold - Sounding The Seventh Trumpet
Bane - Give Blood
From Autumn To Ashes - Too Bad Your'e Beautiful
the Hope Conspiracy - File 03

...and not as heavy or metalish as those guys, but:

As Friends Rust - Won
Boy Sets Fire - After The Eulogy

I haven't heard of any of those bands except Poison The Well.. and as for them... well

Poison The Well is emocore (metal + emo), and the only emocore bands I've heard are poison the well and From Autumn To Ashes. And they are awesome, download "Short Stories with a Tragic Ending", its my favorite.

Short Stories With Tragic Endings is an amazing song, as is Cloroform Perfume. That whole CD is great.

I just saw american nightmare on the 7th, there cd is ok, but live they kick ass! I have the bane cd, thanks for the other suggestions, ill be sure to download a few of there tracks.

goat, if you like poison the well, shai hulud is very similar stuff. Id suggest giving them a looks see.

My girlfriends band is going to be playing with today is the day, if you live in the iowa/illinois area and want to hear some great hardcore feel free to email me and ill get some info about it out for you.

I love to hear that other people dig this music, i figured id get responses like "d00d, check out the new slipknot cd...etc." any more band suggestions would be wonderful.

I thought for a second that this thread should have been started in the new "mature talk" forum.

Thanks for the recommendation Flair. I just listened to "Set Your Body Ablaze", and I really liked it. I'll probably download 3 or 4 more tracks and then buy the cd.

Btw, their songs have awesome names. (My Heart Is Bleeding
The Darkest Blood, A Profound Hatred Of Man)

Id definately recomend there first two albums, Hearts Once Nourished with Hope & Compassion and Fall of Every Man. Hearts is oop though, so youd have to find it used or grab the old cd burner. They have a new drummer and singer now and the have a split with Another Victim called Together on One Convenient Format. Its suprisingly good considered the changes.

I saw BoySetsFire, Poison the Well, Hope Conspiracy and From Autumn to Ashes mentioned already, but I don't know how to post the "thumbs up" icon because I'm new, haha....but anyways I'll add some bands my brother and friend are always talking about (some I listen to...I'm more into emo).

*Grade
*Thursday
*Dark Day Dawning
*Thrice
*Drowningman
*Reach the Sky
*Waterdown
*Ensign
*Glasseater
*SkyCameFalling
*Stretch Armstrong

Not much screaming, more melodic...
*Cursive
*Coheed and Cambria
*Taking Back Sunday
*The Ghost

If you want more detailed descriptions, let me know.

I just saw Today is the Day open for Motorhead. From what I heard, I'd probably pick them up. I'd highly recommend The Haunted. One of their guitarists, Jensen, also plays in the fantastic thrash metal band Witchery.

Gotta chime in with the local bands Throwdown, Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through, Taken, Atreyu.

For those looking for another great emocore band check out hopesfall who's trustkill debut should be released later this year.

Since this is the DVD Talk forum I should also recommend the Hellfest 2000 DVD which documents the event and has many live performances from these bands:
Bane
Brother's Keeper
Buried Alive
Converge
Eighteen Visions
Every Time I Die
The Hope Conspiracy
Idle Hands
Killswitch Engage
Nora
One King Down
Poison The Well
Reach The Sky
Shai Hulud
Walls Of Jericho
The DVD even has commentaries from Poison the Well, Bane, Nora, and One King Down.
