well actually, a radio staiton said that it was consitered a creative lyric and when it first came out on the radio, people refered it to the "smack my ass" song.

Boooooo! Not true, so not true.

I gotta go with Lenny Kravitz here, although it's really his music that's more repetative, dull, and painful to listen to than his lyrics.

Ah, c'mon, nah-nah-nah's aren't lyrics at all. I don't think those are bad lyrics -- they're not lyrics, period. It's almost like a (vocal) instrumental. Call nah-nah-nah's bad lyricism, and you affect a lot of songs. (Which may be your point.)

Admittedly, "A Long December" is one of my favorite songs, so I'm biased, but I'd've written the same thing if you'd been quoting the same lyrics from some 'NSync song (if there is one, in fact, with nah-nah-nah's).

I vote for whatever the new Pink single is called. (Protect me from me or something like that). I accidently left for work without my cd case a week or so ago and ended up flipping through the radio. I happened upon it right at the verse about her not selling out to be a popstar and not being pretty like "Damn Brittany Spears". I almost wrecked my car I was laughing so hard.

"Urgent" or pretty much anything by Foreigner. I like the music, but I try very hard to turn off my brain when they sing. Dirty White Boy, Head Games, Seventeen, Feels Like The First Time, Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded. Man, the list goes on and on...

The lyric did make for good marketing, but that doesn't make it a good, well-written lyric.

Besides, most radio stations wouldn't know a good lyric if it smacked them upside the head.

Okay, I am going to have to defend Adam Duritz because this guys lyrics were amazing, especially the August and Everything After album (one of my favs. from my teen years).

Examples:

(From Round Here):
Step out the front door like a ghost
into the fog where no one notices
the contrast of white on white

(From Perfect Blue Building):
It's 4:30 on a Tuesday
It doesn't get much worse then this
In beds in little rooms in buildings
in the middle of these lives
which are completely meaningless

(From Anna Begins):
Every time she sneezes
I believe it's love

(From Time And Time Again):
I wanted to see you walking backwards
And get the sensation of you coming home
i wanted to see you walking away from me
Without the sesation that you're leaving me alone

(From Raining In Baltimore):
These train conversations are passing me by
And I don't have that much to say
Well, you get what you paid for
But I just had no intention of living this way

(From Angels Of The Silences):
All my innocence is wasted
on the dead and dreaming

(From Daylight Fading)
I'm waiting for the telephone to tell me I'm alive
- - -
Daylight fading, come and waste another year
All the anger and the eloquence is bleeding into fear

(From A Long December)
The smell of hospitals in winter
and the feeling that it's all
a lot of oysters and no pearls
All at once you look across a crowded room
to see the way that light attaches to a girl
- - -
I can't remember how many times I told myself
to hold onto these moments as they pass

"trust, she f**kin hates me, la la la, i try to hard...

You're a sexy guy, I'm a nice Girl
Let's turn this dance floor into our own little nasty world
Boys!
Sometimes a girl just needs one (I get nasty)
Boys!
To love her and to hold (I get nasty)
Boys!
And when a girl is with one (I get nasty)
Boys!
Then she's in control! (You like that? Here we go..)

Thursday - Hole in the World

"Adjust the aperture to focus on the negative."

That is one of my favorite songs on Full Collapse, but that line makes me cringe everytime. I guess its because I'm a big photography enthusiast and hate it when people try to take an object and make symbolism out of it by manipulating its function. Very lazy.

Hey, some rap lyrics are rad. People like Notorious BIG, Tupac, even Eminem....good stuff.

A born sinner,
Opposite of a winner,
Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner.

Or I think it was "Pimp of the Year" when somebody rhymed ho's with avenues ("ave-nose")

Or my personal favorite...Ma$e rhyming "enchilada" with "baby fadda"

Rap music is definitely a mixed bag....

Did I miss something, here? Almost two pages and no mention of Jennifer Lopez (I refuse to give her the satisfaction of calling her J . . . oh, I almost did it). Anyways, she is horrible. "DJ, play my favorite song, play it all night long." Are you kidding me? I would rather listen to an entire cd full of sounds of people farting and dogs barking.

Also, I remember hearing a song by that geekster Busta Rhymes. Something like " . . . Busta Rhymes and Janet Jackson, Kick it up one time!" Anybody who sings or raps their own name in their own song is not an artist.

I can't believe that I forgot to mention No Doubt.

"Hey Baby" makes me want to drill a hole in my head and "Hella Good" is almost as rotten.
