I have a couple of the Phish 3 cd sets of their live shows. On the track listing on the back of the case, some tracks have a ">" after them. For some reason it's making me crazy what it's for.

Any ideas?

It basically means "seque" - as in the band seques between two songs without taking a break.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Not sure why it was bothering me so much, but I wondered about it ever since I got it awhile ago.

It does mean it's a segue but, depending on the age of the show, it may not be an actualy segue. In the past few years Phish started having actual segues ("drifting" form one song into another) but in older shows it was more of a stop to one song and a real quick start to another.

The stop/quick start segue is supposed to just be a ">".

An actual segue is supposed to be represented by "->".

Actually gdrlv - that's probably technically correct.

I just always read the ">" symbol as "into" when I scan the Phish setlists.

Hence "Divided Sky > David Bowie" reads to me: "Divided Sky into David Bowie".

I'm not quite so anal about the start/stop symbology versus the no stop/all flow symbology.
