OK, the new Morpheus is suck!

What the hell? It was awesome before, now it's crap-ola. I hate the new interface, and it's crashed 3 out of 3 times. It's so disappointing, I loved Morpheus.

Does anyone else have any experiences with this? I'm ready to move on to the next file sharing program now.

I don't know... it seems to work well enough for me. It crashed for me a few times as well, but it was a problem with my firewall - once I allowed it to serve, there have been few problems. The interface is pretty cheesy, and you can't separate searches by media type, but it's better than nothing - works better than Gnotella.

I just gave it another try. It didn't crash, but I got virtually no results on my search. I hope it gets better as more people begin to use the new software.

Does anyone know why Morpheus switched network? I'm not getting any result from my search from the new version 1.3.3.1 Morpheus either. I started using Kazaa 1.5. It has almost the same interface as the 1.3.3 Morpheus. And I'm able to find the files I want to download using Kazaa. If you guys are having problem with latest version of Morpheus, try downloading Kazaa 1.5 from cnet.

Kaazaa is supposed to carry spyware. I'm using Audiogalaxy now because of the problems I've been hearing with the new version of Morpheus.

Do you know what type of spyware is included with Kazaa? What does this spyware do exactly? I'm wondering if I should continue to use Kazaa.

I've gotten little search results with Morpheus. I've been using Winmx and getting a lot better results.

i posted this on the computer forum already, but this link:

http://www.project-insomnia.com/grokster.html

tells you how to remove the spyware from grokster. it only took about 10 minutes to set up.

Do you know how to not get so many queued results when you try and download on winmx?

Every time I try and DL from winmx, the file goes in queue. I have to try and DL about 10 of the same song, and usually I can get one to actually DL.

At least on winmx you can get 192kbs instead of 128 or less.

This happens to me a lot also. I think this happens because of how the user has their settings set. You can set it up so you don't have more than 2 songs uploaded from you at a time. I'm not sure if this makes the files queued when you try to download them though.

On winmx's server there is a "status/server" column that tells you how many people are in a user's queue. If you need a file right away only request "green" files with no one in the queue - you're less likely to wait.

Patience is a virtue.

Mainly, spyware tracks where you go on the internet and the information is sent back to the site to do with however they wish. I've never used Kazaa personally.

for music, audiogalaxy has always been better than morpheus
but try some of the programs listed here. They're the exact same interface and search network as the old morpheus

Where did you read/hear this? I'm really liking Kazaa and I'm not really in the mood of DLing another program ... Yes, lazy is right!

I remember that Audiogalaxy was the first program I know of that carried spyware - I hear it's pretty laden with it.

I used that Grokster tutorial - pretty painless. The progam itself isn't magic, but it's decent enough to find even some obscure songs.

Back to the issues on Morpheus...

I agree, the new Morpheus Preview Edition blows. I'm hoping it's called "Preview" because they have a better version coming out. A few of my gripes:

- No way to preview audio/video clips as you download them?
- What's with the limited information on each download? Specifically, you can't even see the bitrate of MP3 files anymore.
- The interface is big and clunky. The old, minimal, more streamlined interface was so much better.

Does anyone have any information on why Morpheus seems to have gone backwards with this new edition? Is it b/c they were scrambling to get that something out that fixed that compatibility glitch, and a better completed version is still on the way?

This is the worst "upgrade" I've ever seen.

- Brad

check out this thread to answer most of your questions. forget morpheus for now. kazaa and grokster can both have spyware removed easily and do exactly what morpheus did for you. i think grokster is the best option, it's file info seems to be displayed in a more concise manner.

I agree, the new Morpheus is total crap. Go back to the old interface!

As this is a software thread and isn't really going anywhere perhaps those so minded can continue the discussion on the thread referenced above by monkeyboy (Benedict).
