Who/when was your first rock concert/The Who is Touring?

I just saw that The Who is touring?? I had no idea. Anyways, my first concert was The Who/Orange Bowl/1982 (I think).

When was your 1st show?

DarkElf 02-20-02 02:42 PM

My first concert was Yes on the Tormato Tour... That was a long time ago!

woofman 02-20-02 02:42 PM

Iron Maiden: (Somewhere on Tour) 1987, Toledo Sports Arena, Toledo, Ohio.

Bandoman 02-20-02 02:45 PM

Kiss - the Destroyer tour, Providence, RI. Detroit Rock City!!!!!

Mazinger 02-20-02 02:48 PM

I think it was the Headbanger's Ball Tour w/ Anthrax, Helloween and Exodus.

Nosmo Rex 02-20-02 02:50 PM

...believe or not - The GoGo's (1984). A Flock of Seagulls opened for them.

Jackskeleton 02-20-02 02:53 PM

My first concert was the cure.

(waits for keyser to post in here so it could be moved to music forum. ;) )

Boot 02-20-02 03:00 PM

My very first concert was Triumph around 1985 or so.

I did see the Who also, can't remember when but it was some time after that.

MJKTool 02-20-02 03:00 PM

Metallica

DodgingCars 02-20-02 03:02 PM

I had gone to see a couple bands play... So, the first time I can remember going to see a band play, was probably to see a bunch of ska bands... Hepcat being one of them..(93 i think)

My first "concert" would be Pink Floyd ('94) though. I guess I define "concert" as several thousand people in the audience. (versus a show, which is a few hundred).

El Scorcho 02-20-02 03:06 PM

Live / Veruca Salt / PJ Harvey -- Summer 1996.

Was this before or after Veruca Salt was a big name? I went to some whole in the wall in a nasty area of DC to see some unknown band named Veruca Salt. I think there were 15 people there MAX. Fig Dish opened for them (and we know what happened during/after that tour).

This was shortly after their "breakthrough" hit "Seether" came out. They didn't have much of a following, and the lead singer came out in a dress and a gold football helmet on. Wierd.

They sucked too. Heh..

Duran 02-20-02 03:19 PM

I saw the Live/PJ Harvey/Veruca Salt tour in 96 as well, only in Columbia, MD. Anyway....

First concert....hmm....think it was Guns and Roses/Skid Row in 1992. Embarrassing, isn't it?

Smangalick 02-20-02 03:21 PM

I think my first concert was Sonic Youth in Minneapolis the fall of 1995.

Good show, great band live...would highly recommend them if/when they go on tour again.

El Scorcho 02-20-02 03:21 PM

Wait, no.. the Live / Veruca Salt / PJ Harvey tour was in Summer 1995. The only reason I know this was because I didn't have my license yet and had to have a couple friends drive. I got my license the following summer in 1996.

Pillowhead 02-20-02 03:28 PM

And, I too have seen The Who. :) They are touring again this summer. A list of places they are playing is right here .

SAShepherd 02-20-02 03:59 PM

Robert Palmer, with Belinda Carlisle opening, in Austin, TX. In 1986, I believe (Riptide tour -- I still think "Addicted to Love" was a great single).

Not as embarassing as Kiss/Slaughter/Little Caesar in 1989 on Kiss' Hot in the Shade tour.

palebluedot 02-20-02 04:32 PM

When I was in the womb I was at an Emerson, Lake and Palmer concert in Germany. My first concert out of the womb was Neil Young in 1976.

Geofferson 02-20-02 05:48 PM

MC Hammer

atlantamoi 02-21-02 12:31 PM

Well, if you don't count the Osmonds or Sonny/Cher at a state fair when I was a kid... I'll saw Bob Seger in 1980. Today, that makes me think, "Icky."

Oatsdad 02-21-02 12:46 PM

KISS was it for me: I was 10 years old in December 1977. AC/DC opened - we booed 'em...

Cool... Irvine sounds like a good possibility for me this year. Saw them in Oakland many years ago.

My first concert was Blue Öyster Cult back in the 70's.

cdollaz 02-21-02 03:22 PM

The Who in summer of 89. Stevie Ray Vaughn opened I think.

Matt 02-21-02 03:42 PM

Guns N' Roses, April 6, 1992, Myriad Arena, Oklahoma City.

Smashing Pumpkins, virtually an unknown band at the time (at least in Oklahoma, and compared to GN'R), opened for GN'R and were booed off the stage maybe 20-25 minutes into their set.

devilpants 02-22-02 10:00 AM

Cream Farewell Tour 1969. My ears are still ringing.

Blade 02-22-02 02:45 PM
