Rik Emmett----from Triumph
Steve Lynch---from Autograph
Saigon Kick
Martina McBride

George Benson
Ugly Kid Joe
Blessid Union of Souls
One of my best friends is the old sound man for the Allman Brothers. I know that doesn't count for anything, but it's still cool.

He even dj'd for us from the stereo behind the bar. It's a small place. Thought that was a cool experience. This past summer, hung out with Fletch *and* Martin Gore for about 30 minutes at the Philadelphia Four Seasons Hotel bar after their concert. Along with their touring drummer, keyboard player, back-up singers, managers, etc. Martin sang for us at the piano. All true. And very surreal.

What are your impressions of Martin? Did the guys have anything to say about Dave (or, even more unlikely, Alan Wilder)??
Cheers!
Edit: The only band I've ever met was Junkhouse. Really great guys and very down to earth. Talk to the lead singer for 5-10 mins after a set they played. Told me to grow some hair... I haven't obliged as yet.

My impression of Martin? Well, he's very very shy at first.
He smiles all the time. He's smaller than I thought he would
be. I've actually been to Fletch's restaurant a few times
and I've seen Fletch there every time. And Martin once.
But it was only with that one group of friends did we decide
to go up to talk to Fletch. I just don't like approaching famous people. I like to give them their space. The first time I saw Martin
at the restaurant he was very drunk. As was I. He had this
big huge furry coat on. He called a cab to leave and walked
out with an Amstel Light in his hand. Heh heh. Now that's
MY hero. When he walked out and by my table that night,
I nodded my head and said 'hi'. He nodded. Again, very shy.
But at the Four Seasons, my friend and I asked the management
if we could play the piano. The bar was closing and no one
was there but our group and DM's camp. So they said sure.
I couldn't play, but my friend could. Once she sat down,
she started JAMMING to "Lady Madonna" by the Beatles.
Martin immediately got up and came over to the piano.
Half of his group followed him. Well, when OUR group saw this,
they ran over too. Martin complimented my friend on her playing
and started singing (!!!) All true, I swear. After that song,
my friend said "Alright you guys, YOU play now. You're the
pros!" So that touring keyboard player sat down and played
two Bowie tunes. Martin and the touring drummer were both
singing. Very loudly I might add. I said to Martin when he was
done "You HAVE to do another solo album!!" (Because I
love his voice, even more than Dave's). He got bright red
and said "Yeah....I will someday". Fletch actually remembered
us from London a year earlier and we talked to him as well.
The most awkward part of the night was riding up in the
elevator with them afterwards. I didn't want them to think
we were following them but we were staying there too.
Back at Fletch's restaurant a year earlier, I sat next to him
at our table and talked the poor guy's ear off. I asked him
a million questions. About Dave, the new album (not out
yet) and even Alan. My friends told me to back down at
one point. Saying (and laughing) "Hey, this ain't an interview!".
But Fletch was so cool and open about everything. He said
he saw Alan at a recent party (they are on the same label you
know). He said that Alan was SO fat. His exact words. We all
laughed. I asked if there were any bad blood between the two
of them. He just said that everyone was shocked he actually
left but they knew he was unhappy. He actually didn't have
any really bad things to say about him. I talked to him about
other current artists (we both laughed and made fun of
Britney Spears), the upcoming album and tour, etc. Good times

Alan "fat"... lol... I can remember seeing an interview with him last year and thinking that he had put on quite a few pounds. Can't say I'm surprised Andy took the pot shot - not much love between those two from what I understand.
Anyway, very cool story! Cheers!

I've met several people by chance in airports and music festivals, but my best music celebrity experience was sitting at a bar in Baltimore, drinking beer with John Bell from Widespread Panic. Very cool guy. He was buying, in fact.
