P.S that is a cool cover. Back to your fun people.

I wasn't trying to inspire an outrage. I think almost 99% of the people on this board don't like one of my favorite groups so I understand. I just thought it was a weird situation the convo, and then seeing this thread.

New single is pretty good. As for the 3 teasers currently circulating:
Nocturne: Sounds badass
Earthshine: Pretty generic
Freeze: Weird, but could be cool

The Mp3, taken from the promo single OLV from the Rush Newsgroup is 100X better than anything I've heard yet.
If anybody wants it, fire me off a email and i'll send you the link

I finally listened to One Little Victory a couple of times and I don't like it. I really dislike Geddy's vocals on this one and it sounds similar to Virtuality in places.

I've changed my opening post to include all the new information we are getting. Also, the rumor of there being 3 songs over 7 min is false, however 8 of the 13 songs are over 5 min in length. Now if they would just announce tour dates....

Good and bad Rush News:
First Good news:
A great article on Neil -------Read this article it's pretty good.
Rush on Rockline May 8th ------Woo Hoo!
The 07/09 - Nissan Pavillion (Bristow, VA) date was incorrect.... However, the show is some place close to D.C. I'm hoping (and was hoping all along) that it was going to be in the M.C.I center or Merriweather.
And the 07/10 - Jones Beach Amphitheatre (Wantagh, NY) is not on that day because OZZ Feast is there.

Nice Hartford has a firm date. I'm pumped. I listened to the new single and to me it sounds much better than anything on TFE. Sounds alot like Counterparts which is a good thing as I liked Counterparts quite a bit. It's been so long since I've seen Rush in concert (Nov 96) I was starting to wonder if I'd ever get to see them again. Looks like I will

The tour dates are offically going to be posted during the week of April 15th, If I get them I will put them up.
I'm really beginning to love One Little Victory it did take awile but the really kicks butt. However, I must admit I really don't like Geddy's high pitched "Victorieeeeeee" the song would be much better without that.
I might be going to the Hartford show, I know I'll be going to the Scranton show and I might be going to the Philly and D.C. shows. I'm really pumped there are 8 shows that are under 4 hours from my location, way to go guys

Some points from band interviews:
Vapor trails are fleeting. With all the band has gone through, they have a new found appreciation for every moment.
Rush has never had extra material - everything written has appeared on an album. This time around, they decided to write 13 songs and use the best 10 or 11 for the album. They ended up using all 13.
Rush have a very close relationship.
Geddy and Alex wrote alot of the music and fit the lyrics to the music, which was a slight variation from their past recording process. The big difference between this album and the others [production wise] was the amount of time this took [about 14 months].
Geddy and Alex did most of the producing. Paul Northfield didn't come in until after about 6 months of recording. He did work very closely with Neil and arranging/recording the drums.
Neil took a bike ride around North America to heal.
Neil is doing well. He has started his life over again and is on the road to recovery as he works on his healing process.
The band is aware of the online Rush petition. The past couple of weeks have been spent talking about the tour. They want to drop some of the standards and incorporate some of what the fans want to hear and what the band wants to play. Alex thinks they can please alot of people with this tour.
Rehearsals start late April/early May and go into the middle of June.
Alex confirmed Hartford on June 28 as the tour opener.
Rush will be playing Texas mid August or early September.
Alex is a Virgo [August 27].
No opening band - there is too much to play.
Tool had been considered for an opener.
The set will be about 3 hours long.
Alex pulled out alot of guitars on this record - he has about 52 or 53.
There was a need for some intensity and drama musically on the record.
Alot of the vocal experimentation on Vapor Trails came from what he learned during the recording of My Favorite Headache.
1997-1998 was a very dark time for Rush because of Neil's personal tragedies. Rush gave Neil the freedom and space he needed and accepted the possibility of never doing another Rush album.
Tour dates will be released on April 15.
The band is aware of the Rush playlist petition and are trying to put together a fresh show filled with material they haven't played in awhile.
Geddy is a Toronto Blue Jays fan.
There were times when the band wasn't sure they'd ever release another album.
Rush is trying to hit major cities in the Americas and overseas on their tour.
Communication was very important during the writing/recording of Vapor Trails - lots of talking and jamming.
This was a very difficult record to make - it took roughly 14 months to make (the longest ever).
Rush did alot of the production (to keep things personal and help the band bond).
After 3-4 months of writing, the band took a month long break because they were unhappy - things went alot smoother when they returned.
Paul Northfield was a tremendous help.
After early concerns of not having enough material, they found they had too much.
Geddy enjoyed the movie Almost Famous.
Tour starts in the end of June - no opening band.
A North American tour has been planned - there is talk about a possible South American/European tour in the fall.
