Need help from Phish fans please!

I'm going to be taking a road trip in a couple days, and I'd love to burn a copy of the Phish concert where they covered Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album. Can anyone help me out with a place I can get it? I've searched Morpheus a couple times so far, but other then finding 1 or 2 songs, I'm having no luck

For anyone worried about the legality of this, from Phish's official site.

All taping must be for personal use only, which may include trading (via analog or digital tape, CD, or digital file transfer).
In other words, they don't care if copies of live perfomances are traded

it's going to take some work, but go to www.etree.org

They have directions on downloading programs to get and burn .shn files, which are a LOT better than .mp3

You're going to have to join a couple of email lists and hope someone on there is offering the show you are looking for, or you could just check etree's user database and see if someone will trade you the show for a bunch of blank cd's or something along those lines.

If I had the show I would be more than happy to get it to you for blanks and postage (B&P) but alas, I only the moe. version of Dark Side Of The Moon, which I personally think is better than Phish's.

To find out what date the show was, just check their online set lists and look at their Halloween shows. I know it was on Halloween, pretty sure it was between '97-'99.

Good Luck.

You can download the show (2nd set only) in .shn format at www.gdlive.com

http://www.gdlive.com/newshows/newsh...11-02_II.shnf/

go to etree.org for software if you need to (to convert the .shn files to .wav)

Thanks for the help guys! I've got the show in .SHN format now and am getting ready to burn it.

Alyoshka, just out of curiousity, does the recording you have on your computer have the story introduction on it? The link that CrazyJoe posted (although a great link, thanks!) starts at the same time the music does. I'd love to get a copy of the opening story about Jimmy walking through the desert, etc. Maybe we could work something out sometime?

I can't remember, honestly, but I have heard the story before which makes me think that it is there. I forget what they call that story but it's an ongoing story. I'll check it out first thing when I get back if nobody else has helped you (that'll be Jan. 5th). I remember that at the end of DSOTM they sing songs like Nirvana stuff.

Yep, that's the same show.. ends with "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

If you do have a version with that story on it, I'd be very interested in obtaining a copy from you if possible. Unfortunetly I don't have any other live show recordings to offer However, I'd be more then willing to send you a couple of blank CD-Rs as well as $ for postage.

I'm going to be moving to TX in the next couple of days, so I may be kind of slow replying to email, but if you want to discuss this further you can email me at [email protected]

Thanks!

I have a CDR of the "Dark Side of the Moon" show that does include the "Poster Nutbag" drive through the desert monologue before the band goes into their rendition of the Pink Floyd album.

I believe the CDR is a "rip" from a bootleg album that I've seen whinging its way through independent record stores of late.

It's not the entire show, by any means, since it all fits on one disc. But I do have the entire "Dark Side of the Moon" performance, plus the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" encore.

Man - do I miss Phish. Is there any more truth to the rumor that the boys will be back together by New Year's Eve 2002?

Hey! Now that grunter explains the story, I know that that was on my list. I'm 99% sure that I wouldn't have deleted that part or anything. I'll email you about it.

Thread ressurection....

Alyoshka or Grunter, would either of you be willing to hook me up with this? I still have the original SHN files of the show, but would like to get a copy of the monologue.

Shoot me an email at [email protected] if you can help out please

Just to clarify, the "monologue" (story of Jimmy and his cat Poster Nutbag) is always linked to the song "Harpua", which Phish only plays during special shows (NYE, Halloween, or in this case the day after the Halloween show).

Well, it's not only for special shows. It used to be played all the time in the 80's and early 90's. These days it's a pretty rare song to hear and a big fan favorite, so having a Harpua in a show would give it a certain level of "special" automatically. The 11/2/98 show with Dark Side of the Moon was actually the last time they've played it, according to my trusty Phish Companion. The last not-that-special show with it before that (non-New Years run or big festival) was the 12/6/96 Las Vegas show with Les Claypool and all the Elvis impersonators on the stage. I guess that's special, though. Doh.

That's no rumor. The official Phish site has all the NYE run details. Mail order and Ticketmaster dates for New Year's Eve and the 3 following shows have long since passed (I'll be there!) but there are lots of rumors of a long-ish spring tour in 2003.

By the way, an especially easy way to find Phish shows (and other shows by bands who allow free trading of concerts) is the FurthurNet P2P network (possibly the only P2P network with nothing illegal on it). There's a mix of MP3 and SHN files, with widely varying show availability, but it's worth a look.
