Unfortunately, however, your thread is titled "Shakira Sucks" and you damn her on her English album. It would have made more sense to have your title as "Shakira's US Album Sucks", right?

You guys havent figured out how the mainstream music industry works-

You find some lamo singer/band that looks good, spend $250k to $1 Million promoting them - and lo and behold they become a star.

The record label sells a lot - the band makes little since the high promo costs - and then the record label doesnt promote their next release and instead finds the next big thing.

Let's lists bands that that has worked for:

Sum 41
Alien Ant Farm
System of a Down
Jessica Simpson
etc. etc.

Apparently I don't know how it works considering System of a Down has now had two albums go platinum.

And who exactly in Alien Ant Farm looks good?!?!?!?

I'm actually intrigued by her single. I think she's got a shot at sticking around. I think the lyrics don't make a lot of sense because they were translated into English. I guess Gloria Estefan did the translation.

I think by 'looks good' he meant 'looks stylish in a way we would like to promote'.

I don't know much about her music but she can sure shake her ass with the best of 'em.

I saw something about her on TV last night. I actually think she looks better with the blonde hair . My wife agreed. I only listen to the radio during the 15 minute car ride to work, the 10 minute car ride for lunch, and another 15 minute car ride to home. I hear the song 2-3 times a day.

Apparently I don't listen to the radio with enough frequency. I was hoping this thread would help me figure out who she is, but I still am clueless. From how it sounds I won't be rushing out to find one of her English language songs.

The song groes on you if you hear it enough times. It's kinda catchy, especially with her limited english speaking skills.

I didn't know she had other songs in another language when I started the thread. So i think my saying Shakira sucks! was fine at the time. Now if you want me to change it, I'll think about it.

Why not delete it? It stinks of trolling flamebait anyway.

What kind of music do you like? Maybe I'll make a thread about how much your favorite bands suck. You see, music is subjective, even moreso than movies. By posting that a certain singer or band sucks is just asking for trouble, and I highly doubt that's why Geoff started this forum in the first place.

To be honest, I didn't really care until it was insinuated Shakira was famous because she was "latin" (which is a serious misnomer anyway). I found that pretty offensive. I apologize if I sounded harsh.

You know, I still haven't heard any of Shakira's English language songs.

I did just just see a new video of her singing a song called, I believe, "Me Creo" (a Spanish language song). She has dyed brunette hair now. She is a very attractive looking lady, when she has black or brunette hair. As a blonde, with those black eyes of hers (they aren't even brown, they are black), she looks like a skanky whore (the opinion of my wife and I, the least she could have done was to wear contacts to lighten her eyes (Shakira, not my wife)).

Anyway, I still haven't heard an English language song of hers, but I can say that she is a very good Spanish language singer. If you are intereste in a Spanish album of hers, pick up "Donde Estan Los Ladrones?".

ANYBODY who is writing "IGNORANT" comments towards SHAKIRA without KNOWING anything about her CAREER in MUSIC can F_CK OFF!!!!

Take it easy there buddy, thy are just opinions. Yes,the fact that she does suck is an opinion, even if it isn't substantiated. Basically she looks and sounds just like every other one of those Britney's out there. Cardboard music, same basic lyrics that have been sung over and over (how many boy songs can there be?), and a general malaise of corporate sponsered "music". Her "talent" seems to be looking good and shaking her a$$ in leather pants. That's great but lets not confuse that with great music, or great talent. She is here for purely entertainment purposes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but just not my thing.

I'm not a Shakira fan or buyer of her music, but you are wrong on this account. They don't do the same kind of music and Shakira's past recordings are much more interesting.

Opinions should be able to be backed up Facts...not IGNORANT B.S...alrighty...Opinions are COOL w/ me but, Think about what is said...tha's all
