What movie just doesn't click for you, even though it should?

Films like Shadow of The Vampire, The Pale Blue Eye and Crimson Peak should strongly click for my gothness with their (Often) Oscar-nominated production values, performances and great subject matter. But they all came up super short to me.

I know I'm a strong outlier, but I never liked The Big Lebowski. I've tried on three separate occasions to give it a go, and I can't get halfway through it. And yet, I absolutely adore almost every other Coen Brothers movie!

I've tried watching Fast Times At Ridgemont High quite a few times but I can't even make it to the pool scene before turning it off.

Here are a couple that are sacred texts for a lot of people around my age and grew up in the 80s.
Caddyshack...it's fine. There are a few laughs.
The Goonies...I've never had any great affinity for this.
Also, in terms of 70s Vietnam movies, for me it's the Deer Hunter.

To be fair, a majority of 70s Vietnam movies focused more on the "Vet Returns Home" aspect:
Tracks
Rolling Thunder
Heroes
Coming Home
Who'll Stop The Rain
We had to wait til the 80s to "Go back out in the bush".

I've literally never heard of any of those you just listed besides Coming Home.

So, we're talking movies that were made especially for you, you didn't like, but everybody else did?

I agree with you on The Goonies... never been a fan of it. Caddyshack... one of my favorite films ever.

Rolling Thunder is great. Bill Devane. Tommy Lee Jones. Linda Haynes. James Best (Roscoe from Dukes of Hazard) as a sadistic killer. I just upgraded to the 4K.
Also, I had those NFL bed sheets that Devane's kid had.

The look of excitement and eagerness on Tommy Lee Jones’ face when Devane asks him for help is my favorite part. I’m glad I have two friends that would confidently have that same expression.

If you had to eat dinner with his family every night then you'd be down for just about anything too.

In terms of Horror movies I don't really care for Scream and I dont know how they've made seven movies now. The last one I saw was Scream 4.

Oldboy doesn't click with me. It's not that I dislike the movie, it's perfectly fine, but as revenge movies go, it wouldn't make my top 10. I don't even consider it, being much better than the remake.

I think we've done similar threads on this, but for me it's the Lord of the Rings series. Watched Fellowship. Hated it. Figured I missed something so I slogged through the book. Watched the extended version. Hated it more. Watched Two Towers. Hated that more than Fellowship. Never saw Returrn, because why should I at that point.
Marvel movies are another, with the exception of the Raimi Spider-Man films. Hated The Avengers. Was suggested Captain America: The Winter Soldier would be more up my alley. Hated that too. Watched Guardians. Hated it. Done with Marvel at this point.
Finally, and because I saw it today on a "Best horror movies you've never heard of" list, Session 9. Oh, I've heard of it. Given it at least three shots. No, it's just not that good. Sorry.
