I went to the 7:00pm Predator: Badlands opening night fan event at AMC IMAX and had the rest of the night to kill and another A-List slot, so I went to the 9:15pm show of Die My Love. I'd run into a young couple in the lobby going to it for the 7:00pm show with a Q&A with Jennifer Lawrence afterward (pre-taped, I assume).
This was well-made but a tough watch about a tough topic. Post-partum depression is an awful thing, and we go on the journey with her. Because her depression goes all over the place, you're never sure where each scene is headed, so you're left on edge much of the time, as well as a little bored because of a meandering story with no clear throughline. Good performances, powerful subject matter, but pretty long and more dull than I hoped it would be.
In my theater of 15 people or so, at least 2 walked out halfway through the movie and one row started getting on their phones toward the end.

That is just absolutely brutal.

I just watched this tonight, and was surprised to see a decent crowd, maybe discount Tuesday folks. But yeah, as fun as it was to see JLaw nude quite often, this was just unpleasant to watch. The editing was a often jarring here and there (I think I heard the guy she had an affair with tell her to stay away from him dialog only towards the end), but I guess it was mostly told chronologically with perhaps some elements that were only in her head. I mostly feared for the baby the whole movie, I would have been upset if she would have done something to him.

I saw it last Friday and would agree with the tough watch sentiment. Lawrence seems to be picking up the mantle for Kate Winslet.
Also, I found myself thinking that if my significant other had brought home a dog like that I probably would have gone crazy too.

Oh yeah, the husband definitely had his bizarre issues, too.

The title is misleading
Jennifer Lawrence probably the best role of her career though the ending WTF?
Three writers is never a good thing.
