he's also done some amazing acting. Mrs. Doubtfire is a comedy classic. Insomnia saw his dramatic scene in full effect, and it was amazing. I even loved One Hour Photo. such a sad character. many many more movies unnamed...

i also used to love, well, still do in his work, but Rutger Hauer. i thought he brought such menace and gravitas to every performance he was in. From Blade Runner to Sin City, the man could do it all and seeing him in movies always makes me sad, especially my many watches of Batman Begins. and The Hitcher is one of my favs of all time.

Same. He rarely clicked for me. Loved him in The Birdcage, and some other comedies, but he never felt authentic for me in dramas, even Dead Poets or Good Morning Vietnam or even Good Will Hunting -- that 'It’s not your fault' scene is cringe to me.

I liked his movies more than his standup which some people might not agree with.

Marlon Brando

Charlton Heston

He was no Brando when it comes to acting but a memorable screen presence.

Definitely my answer too. I loved his movies. There are a lot in here that I miss their roles or miss their acting ability but Robin Williams one of the few celebrities that I actually feel sad about losing. It was especially difficult learning after his death how much he suffered in silence and how good of a person he really was. Just an incredible human being. Story after story after story or him being incredible when there was no one there to see. No cameras. No press. Just him and the person telling the story.

Definitely a huge loss and I feel like we failed him as a society.

Re: Which actor do you miss the most?

Actors like Charlton Heston, Jack Lemmon or Marlon Brando are actors who's work I appreciate but they were already old when I started watching movies, James Stewart was more or less retired by the time I was born. Those aren't actors I'd say I miss.

Robin Williams, James Gandolfini, Philip Seymour Hoffman were still making movies when they passed away. Heath Ledger I kind of miss, he wasn't a favorite of mine when he died, but I would have liked to see how he would have developed as an actor. The Dark Knight was a special performance, but his subtile approach in Brokeback Mountain was even better and I think there was more to come.

Shout out to John Belushi, who was a genius with comedic movies. PSH and Williams would be on my list too.

Jean Harlow, died 1937 during the making of SARATOGA.

James Dean, died Sept. 30, 1955, following the making of GIANT (1956). Dennis Hopper had to dub some of Dean's lines.

I know what you mean. I deliberately didn't watch some of his movies so that I can watch performances which are new to me, for a couple of of years. I have 4 movies left.
