Sorry, Baby (A24 - 2025, W/D: Eva Victor)

Hopefully there isn't another thread of this but I couldn't find it.
Wow!! This was stunning that this is a first feature for writer/director Eva Victor. It makes sense this won the screenwriting award at Sundance. It was funny and sad and honest and mature in its subject matter (the pre and post of a traumatic event). All the actors were perfection. The composition of some scenes could even be framed. Like I said, incredible first feature work. Victor has been on my radar from '19/'20 when she was posting funny videos on twitter. I'm looking forward to her next project.

I watched in on HBO Max in January, but it was one of those movies that I didn't really have anything to say about. I liked it. I'm interested to see if she has other ideas that work as well

I watched this a few months back. The court room sequence is one of the best sections of a film I've ever seen; superbly written and performed, thought-provoking, satisfying. This section alone made it one of the best movies of 2025 even if I found a lot of the surrounding movie uneven. Highly recommend to those looking for a good solid character movie.

My first thought after watching was damn that was a great performance by Naomi Ackie. I then looked it up and looks like she got some awards/nominations for the role which were well deserved.

I’ve been a fan since the good ol days of Twitter as well. I’m happy to see she’s achieving success.

We finally watched it over the weekend. I had been avoiding it because I thought something bad happened to the cat; my wife had to look it up to make sure it was not true, lol.

This was excellent, with well-earned dark humor to frame this tough topic. Every aspect of it feels very real. Casting, dialogue, story, it's a great debut for Eva Victor.
