Clown in a Cornfield (2025) D: Eli Craig

Based on the novel by Adam Cesare and directed by Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs Evil).

Saw this one tonight. It was actually quite entertaining. I liked this one better than Hell of a Summer. It was a little funny, a little gory, and had a lot of clown. It was also kinda fucked up when they tell you the reason for the killings.
It's funny how similar Kevin Durand looks like Elon Musk. So much so that when he first came on-screen, I noticed that the guy two seats down from me leaned over and whispered something to their buddy. I know it had to be "doesn't that guy look like Elon?!"

Sorry if there is already a thread. It's impossible to find threads and I searched all over.

Caught a late afternoon matinee. I thought it was pretty bad. Hilariously stupid teens and the big reveal was so silly. This will probably be in my top 5 worst movies of 2025. I know, it’s a low budget indie horror movie, but still. This was the playbook of how to produce a horror movie for dummies.

So with this and Shadow Force only three spots left! A lot of year left to go.

Brutal. With the pedigree of Tucker and Dale, I was expecting something better than what DJariya describes.

I'm confused. Are the dummies producing the film or is the film aimed at dummies watching it?

(I suspect the answer is: yes.)

Just saw this. It was better than I thought it was going to be. I thought it was fun.

The first thirty minutes made me think this was going to be terrific; has a great autumn atmosphere (I really felt those chilly nights around the fire), interesting and likable characters.

By the midway point when it was clear
Spoiler:
the clowns weren't of supernatural origin
all the goodwill the movie had been generated disappeared.

And they didn't really do anything with the clown imagery/characteristics. It could have been a guy in a cowboy suit or a Michael Myer's suit and none of the set-pieces would need to be adjusted, because there was nothing clown-specific. This feels like either a way too-late cash-in on the creepy clown sightings of 2016 or a lame-attempt to grab some of the Terrifier audience.

Finally got a chance to see this over the weekend.

Although I'm not familiar with the source material (Adam Cesare's 2020 novel), I didn't care for this film.

It all felt very flat & unimaginative.

I'm not sure if that is due to Director Eli Craig or the limitations of having to stay within Adam Cesare's source material.

This will be on AMC+ and Shudder tomorrow

I thought it was pretty bad. But, seems like some horror fans liked it.

Re: Clown in a Cornfield (2025) D: Eli Craig

I had read the three books in the series and enjoyed them well enough. Plenty of violence and clowns, and the story arc does get nutty as the books progress.

Wasn't expecting much from the movie version for some reason, and my expectations were matched. Fairly routine, with a final act that really missed the mark.
Meh......

I loved this movie. I bought the 4K UHD on Fandango and have watched it a few times. The rotary phone bit makes me laugh each time. Bring on the sequels.
