Sublime Biopic (D: Justin Chon S: KJ Apa)

I was a freshman in high school when Sublime was really popular and if done right this could be a really cool time capsule of the 90s Ska Punk Era.
3000 Pictures‘ biopic on the Long Beach band Sublime is gaining serious traction and some major talent as sources tell Deadline that KJ Apa is attached to star as Bradley Nowell in the film, with Justin Chon on board to direct. Chon is also writing the screenplay with Bobby Hundreds, based on Chris Mundy’s original draft.
Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and David Ready from Chernin Entertainment are producing the film, which is in development. Original Sublime members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson are executive producing along with Nowell’s son Jakob Nowell — who now is Sublime’s lead singer — and widow Troy Nowell on behalf of the late singer’s estate. Francis Lawrence also is executive producing, as is Jamie Spetner, Director of Development at Chernin Entertainment. Marisa Paiva is overseeing the project for 3000 Pictures.

Hope it includes footage of me driving and immediately hitting “next station” whenever one of their songs comes on the radio.

On that, Alan, we agree. Always hated that band.

BOB-FM, the younger Boomer / older Gen X white guy radio station in Austin, is very devoted to playing "Santeria."

"I don't practice Santeria" has me automatically lunge for "next station". So does "Do you have the time" and the opening bars of "Old Time Rock n Roll". Even GOOD songs can be ruined by overplaying them.

I wonder if the label will release a new "Best Of" single to capitalize on the film.
