Gareth Edwards in talks to direct:
I can see how he would be a possible fit. He managed to make The Creator for under $100M. Maybe he’s a real stickler to staying on time and on budget.

Cool. I look forward to not seeing any dinosaurs in this dinosaur movie.

It's going to be three hours of giant dung beetles rolling dinosaur turds over cars filled with people.

RoShemp and Josh-da-man, both your comments made me LOL, for reals. Josh, your prediction for what the will be in the film would almost be the equivalent of a The Far Side comic strip come to life. I can picture a mobile game now where the goal is to use your dung beetles to accumulate a turd ball large enough to crush a wide variety of vehicles.
Universal clearly is just looking for a gun to hire, as they want to plop down the script in front of the director and say film this, no auteur vision stuff added to what is in the script, just stick to the script and everyone gets paid and makes a lot of money when it is all said and done. David Leitch said no thanks, but Gareth Edwards also strikes me as an "auteur" type director but he seems to have enough confidence in his talent to feel that he can stick to Universal's edict to color inside the lines.
This actually could turn out to be a fun film to watch, but who am I kidding, as I have seen all the films in theaters so I will once again pay for a ticket and ignore the crtitical jabs that will be inevitable thrown at this movie when it is released.

Scarlett Johansson is officially in talks to be the lead.
The trades are now reporting it.
Seems like Gareth Edwards is now officially the director, although it was never officially reported that he signed a contract.
Says they are fast tracking this.

Jonathan Bailey also circling a lead role:

I've seen fan speculation that Johansson and Bailey could be playing adult versions of Lex and Tim (John Hammond's grandkids). I'd prefer to see the original actors back in those roles, so I hope that's not the case:

I think Ariana Richards retired from acting. She’s a pretty successful artist now.
Joseph Mozello still acts though. If that is supposed to be Tim, I wonder if he was even asked to reprise the role.

I'll go the other way and say I'm fine with recasting with actors with more substantiative acting chops vs being tied to the original child actors.
Of course this is all hinges on the rumor that it's the kids grown up.
