Launching a new DCU without Bruce Wayne as Batman would have been a really bad idea. I’m not all that keen on jumping straight to Damien, but I’ll see where this goes.

The younger and all future generations can still see all of the movies with Bruce Wayne as Batman.

Maybe. Then someone younger could have a different character be "their" Batman. That seems fine to me.

In the comics, Batman was typically Bruce Wayne. But then you look at someone like the Flash or Green Lantern, and people can have their personal favorites. No reason something similar couldn't be done with Batman, Superman or any of them. Especially as characters get older and it makes sense to start a new generation.

Or we can keep seeing Martha and Thomas getting gunned down in an alley and their orphan son turning to a life of vigilantism.

I'm only interested in seeing an older Bruce Wayne in a Batman Beyond movie.

Brave and Bold was a team up comic book for Batman, so one could assume a bunch of different heroes show up in this and it's not entirely Bruce and Damien?

I think they're limited on what to call the movie since there is already a "The Batman". Can't call it Detective Comics. Had to call it "The Dark Knight" as we've had movies of that name. Maybe "Batman and Robin" but again there has already been one of those.

So question is, presumably Bruce/Batman will be in his early to mid 40s. Who's your pick for the role? I still like Luke Evans (42).

Just doing some math here since everyone is saying Batman will be 40. The kid is 10. Let's say he does his league of shadows training from 16-18, after bailing on rich kid boarding school or whatever. Then returns to Gotham and starts being Batman. Talia shows up and they hook up when he is 20 or 22 or whatever. 2-4 years of Batman-ing before that goes down. Damien could be 10 by the time he is 31 / 32 / 33. Getting hung upon details we don't even know yet.

He could get Talia pregnant during that 16-18 year old period where he's training and he finds out about him in his late 20s. It could literally be anything. So let's not get hung up on imaginary details we just create out of thin air?

And maybe he does end up being 40 but they planned the arc where they end up telling a Batman Beyond thing with them. We just don't know yet. It's just too early for all the rage is my main thought. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

Yeah, Batman isn't going to push 40 in this flick. They would have gone with a Batfleck movie in that case. Damian will be 10-12, he could have easily fathered him during his early 20s. Remember, Bruce doesn't even know about Damian until years after his birth.

I also like Jensen Ackles for the role.

Ackles is at least trying to get a job with DC. He talked about it in Michael Rosenbaum's podcast, but didn't want to say which project, because he's superstitious.

He was great in Batman: The Long Halloween and there were rumours he was lining up to be the CW's Batman before the Arrowverse imploded.

Ackles was great in Under the Red Hood.

Didn't know he was in that one too. Is the movie worth checking out?

I was thrilled that at least we got a glimpse of a Batman Beyond(ish) Batman in live action and got to see Kevin Conroy as and older Bruce Wayne. It would have been nice if it was expanded from him just being grumpy and bad to being grumpy and good though.

Wasn't Conroy actually playing an evil version of the Kingdom Come Batman in that crossover episode? I seem to recall him being outfitted with a back brace reminiscent of what Bruce wore in that comic book.

Yeah probably. I mainly said Batman Beyond to be consistent with my former statement.

Wonder if the team-up part would feature The Batmen of All Nations?

Honestly, Adkins, Ackles, and Urban are the only three guys I can think of off the top of my head for Bruce Wayne/Batman.

There are rumors going around that The Flash director, Andy Muschietti, got the gig to direct this.

There are also rumours that Bradley Cooper is a top contender for Bruce Wayne.

Cooper is currently 48 (so he'll be 50 if/when this comes out). For comparison, Ben Affleck was 43 when BvS came out...
