Well that's not quite true because trashing the Snyderverse became an Olympic sport.

I thought I read when Gunn first took over that he hates end credit sequences, so I guess a cute inconsequential scene is a decent middle ground for those begging for something after the credits.

This. 1000%. The mid credit sequence features nothing you haven't seen before if you've paid any attention to marketing, and the post is... cute and funny but completely not worth sticking around for.

People didn't hate his universe because it was Snyder. They hated it because it sucked, and they were massively disappointed. And it just kept getting worse.

I have zero doubt if it had been good, the Snyderverse would still be going strong. Everyone I knew LOVED 300. They didn't hate it because Snyder did it. It was loved because it was good. It was enjoyable. It was well made. The same can't be said for most all of his DC output.

And this is coming from someone who will freely admit he likes most of Sucker Punch. And everyone seems to resoundingly hate that movie.

Hopefully will be going soon. The wife actually said she would see this with me, and she NEVER wants to go see a movie which makes me happy. Hopefully it is as good as everyone here is saying.

I haven't gone back and forth on a movie this much in a while. I gave up on this movie but saw the full Ultraman fight scene on you tube, started watching it as I said I wasn't going to watch the movie anyway, then quicky stopped it because I really liked what I saw and didn't want to ruin it.

Just got home from watching this. There are a couple small things I can nitpick, but overall it was a really good movie.

Posted spoilers in the reviews thread but I thought it was fine. What was good and bad in the trailer was good and bad in the movie. Not bad, not great, just fine.

Back to Ultraman...did they pay Tsuburaya Productions for the use of the name or did Warner Bros. just rip it off?

I was wondering about that, but DC has used the Ultraman name for a long time now (1964, predating Tsuburaya's by two years), it's not a character created just for this movie.

$22.5m in preview showings, that puts it alongside Barbie ($22.3m previews, 3-day $164m) and The Batman ($21.6m, $134m opening). Pretty good start.

Just FYI, 4K (including a fancy SteelBook) is already up for pre-order on Amazon, Gruv, and another retailer that escapes me at the moment.
