Like I've never seen before? A lot of the trailer looks like the Disney version with Sutherland, Sheen, Platt and O'Donnell.

You clearly don't remember the Disney version. That one had a more lighthearted and adventurous Errol Flynn vibe. This seems to be going for a more gritty approach.

I was hoping they'd finally make a movie out of the Three Musketeers.

Yes it's gritty, but the dialogue and setup of the scenes was the same. Could be taken from the novel in both versions, but there are a couple of scenes I instantly recognized from the Disney version, which I actually watched a few of months ago.

Well those similarities, as you pointed out, are indeed from the book. However, I don't expect this one to take the wide deviations of the Disney version. Then again, despite being split into two movies, I don't expect this to be a 1:1 adaptation of the book.

Acquired by Samuel Goldwyn films for U.S. distribution. Part 1 will be released later this year. Part 2 will be released in 2024.

This thread did not mention it's 2 movies and they were shot back to back.

Unlike the Salkind films in the 1970s, at least it looks like everyone knew that's what they were doing this time.

The trailer I posted in the OP is for both movies.

Glad this is making its way to the US. I guess I won't have to import the 4K disc of the first.

Don’t be so sure on that. Samuel Goldwyn Films rarely releases physical media beyond DVD.

Well poo.

I'm shocked DVDs are still a thing. I was even more shocked when a local Wal-Mart recently removed all BDs and 4K UHD BDs, leaving only a massive collection of DVDs in their stead.

Both parts look really good.

However, if they are as true to the book as I suspect,
Spoiler:
non book readers are going to be in for one heck of a downer ending in Part II.

I updated the title to reflect it being "Part 1"(and dropping the "Milady" from the title) and a release date of 12/8/2023.

I was happy to see that both parts are on Hulu. Sadly, they are captioned instead of subtitled.

EDIT:
I am tempted to get this box set, despite the fact that I am sure it lacks English subtitles.

Re: The Three Musketeers - Part 1: D'Artagnan & Part 2: Milady (D: Bourboulon; S: Green)

I just watched Part 2 today. Unlike Part 1, Hulu offered subtitles instead of captions for Part 2. Both parts are excellent. However, despite some familiar elements, these are somewhat loose adaptations of the original text, incorporating some historical conflicts not present in the book and character resolutions that diverge completely from the text.

I was surprised
Spoiler:
Part 2 ends in a cliffhanger, given both films were shot back-to-back, with no mention of a Part 3.
. I hope that is eventually an English-friendly 4K UHD BD release.

Part 3: Twenty Years Later is due sometime in 2027.

I finally watched both parts on Hulu and thought they were very good. When the first one started, I said "Eh, do I really want to see this story again?" but I think it'll be my preferred version now. The 2011 Logan Lerman/Milla Jovovich is pretty silly, as is the comedic 1974 Richard Lester one.

I tried the dub to see what it was like, but it was of course terrible so I quickly switched back.

The same studios (Pathé, Chapter 2, M6 Films), producer (Dimitri Rassam) and cinematographer (Nicolas Bolduc) also made a 2024 adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo that looks just as good.
