It’s about time we start thinking of Jigsaw as one of the biggest slashers in horror history, placing him right alongside that of Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Chucky, and even Pinhead. With Lionsgate set to revitalize the franchise next month with Spiral, the Chris Rock-fronted ninth film that brings Saw II-IV director Darren Lynn Bousman back behind the camera, producers Twisted Pictures have already begun development on the milestone tenth entry. In their latest issue, Production Weekly lists SAW X as being in active development. It’s caused a bit of a flurry on reddit as hardcore fans noted that James Wan‘s Atomic Monster is listed as one of the film’s producers. The thought here was that Wan, who made his directorial debut on the first SAW in 2004, had returned to help develop the 10th film in the franchise. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Wan, as one of the co-creators next to Leigh Whannell, has been a producer on every single entry since the beginning. While this is the first to include Atomic Monster in the production listing, I can assure you that Wan has not returned as an active participant in the SAW franchise. With all of that said, we can confirm that a tenth film is actively being developed. What that means exactly is up in the air as Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate are notorious for pivoting in different directions throughout the process. It’s also possible that the box office for Spiral, in theaters on May 14th, could affect the future of the franchise, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. As for now, Jigsaw’s games will continue on and absolutely live in infamy within horror history. |

I also don't think there's anymore to tell with him. Which also means when they make a movie with a twist that he was personally behind it, or it's a prequel again...I'll give up. Until then |

I know this forum has a love/hate relationship with Saw, but I always look forward to them. The last one with Chris Rock didn't quite work for me, but I appreciated the effort to go into a new direction without John Kramer. |

If you're familiar with the movies history, Kevin Greutert was an editor on the series. He was hired to direct Saw VI and that ended up being the lowest grossing movie in the series (at the time). Spiral later became the lowest grossing movie, but mainly because it was released at the height of the pandemic in early 2021.
So he was ready to leave and direct Paranormal Activity 2. However, when they greenlit Saw 3D, Lionsgate basically forced him back to direct it last minute due to a clause in his contract. And apparently he wasn't happy about it. So he really phoned it in with Saw 3D. |

EXCLUSIVE: Veteran Saw cast member Shawnee Smith is circling the newest installment in the billion-dollar horror franchise from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures, which is currently in production in Mexico City, Deadline hears. While the studio declined to comment on Smith’s casting, we understand that it has continued to expand its cast for the tenth Saw film following the closing of deals for Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok), Steven Brand (The Sandman) and Michael Beach (Dahmer). Then, there’s horror icon Tobin Bell, who will return for another go-round as Jigsaw Killer John Kramer, as previously announced. |

I don’t remember the stories for all the Saw movies but hasn’t he been dead or dying in every single entry? That’s worse than Murtaugh planning to retire in all 4 installments of Lethal Weapon. |

Officially now called Saw X
and comes out October 27th Lionsgate is supposed to have their studio presentation tomorrow at Cinemacon. But, they are also screening Joy Ride, so there might not be much information or trailers shown. Hopefully some details of Saw X comes out. |
